People Empowering People to Impeach

"Let it not be said that people in the United States did nothing when their government declared a war without limit and instituted stark new measures of repression." -- Not in Our Name, 2002

Comprehensive look at impeachment initiatives at this point in time. The impeachment movement is on fire!

snip

Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, introduced H. Res. 635, a resolution creating a committee to investigate the Administration's possible impeachable offenses. Among the 36 co-sponsors are Minnesotans Oberstar, Sabo and McCollum.

ImpeachPac currently lists 28 candidates for federal office who support impeachment or a probe into impeachable offenses. Carl Sheeler, a finance professor, business owner and former Marine, is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Rhode Island. His "Be Patriotic, Impeach Bush" billboard which stood for two months on a busy intersection in Providence, RI's capitol city, generated national awareness for his campaign among peace activists, liberal bloggers, independents and progressive Democrats. Mini versions of Sheeler's in-your-face billboard are on bumper stickers in RI and many other states, including Minnesota.

The Freeway Blogger ran a photo of Sheeler's billboard on his web site but says he prefers the homemade variety of signs for impact, flexibility and cost efficiency.

ImpeachBush.org, the long running campaign with the black and yellow artwork, may have been the first national impeachment group on the scene. Since 2003 the group has amassed about 730,000 signatures for its citizens' referendum to impeach Bush, and placed newspaper ads in the New York Times, USA Today, Boston Globe and the San Francisco Chronicle.

4. SCOTUS is such a toss-up. So many ideologues packing the court
When they ruled that the Gitmo policies violated national and international laws (more impeachable offenses and a war crime) our puppet government moved to change the law to accommodate Bush.

People have to initiate impeachment -- and that's what we're doing!
