I don't fear the terrorists ...I fear other drivers

Think the terrorists are a big threat? Well lets look at it for what it is. Let's compare the carnage to everyday life in the world and the USA. Now you tell me ...should I be scared of terrorists?

you must live in Oklahoma. seriously. we have the worst drivers in the WORLD here--and i grew up driving in NY/NJ and Los Angeles. seriously. the worst. god forbid we get an ice and/or snow storm-the roads aren't salted and people don't know what the hell to do with themselves.

i'm actually more afraid of crazy fundamentalist christians than i am of other terrorists.

I was just making this exact same observation to my wife tonight.

We know that tens of thousands will die each year due to car accidents, but we don't curl up in a ball and stop driving, or ratchet the speed limit down to 5 miles per hour. We acknowledge the risks, get insurance, pay attention on the road... and we drive anyway.

If current trends and fears continue, however, here's what I think the future of air travel will be:

You'll report to the airport several hours before your flight. When you get there, you'll be marched into a semi-private cubicle in a locker-room, where you will strip, and place your clothes in a numbered pouch. You will wait there, naked, until the screener comes by. The screener will inspect and wand you, looking down your throat and shining a flashlight in your body cavities. You will then be issued a set of disposable plastic coveralls for your flight. Your numbered pouch will be taken by the screener and thrown in with the baggage on a seperate cargo-only flight. You will board your plane single file and be seated next to your plastic coverall wearing co-passengers. Air Marshals with stun guns and tasers will stand watch throughout the flight. When you reach your destination, you will deplane and be marched into an identical semi-private cubicle in an identical locker-room. You will wait patiently as an employee comes around and returns your numbered pouch to you. You will dress and walk out onto the concourse to meet your family.

And half of America will say, "Better safe than sorry! I'm so happy to do anything to help stop terrorism!"

But even on 9/11, you were probably safer on a plane than listening to the coverage as you commuted to work.
