Labour MPs come out in support of Prescott's US view
John Prescott was riding a wave of support from Labour MPs last night after privately attacking the Bush administration for being "crap" on the Middle East peace process.

The Deputy Prime Minister was also buoyed by public support for his outspoken remarks about the US President, George Bush, after they were revealed in yesterday's Independent.

Mr Prescott's use of the word "crap" reached the White House yesterday. The President's press secretary, Tony Snow, made light of the remark, saying that Mr Bush had "been called a lot worse and, I suspect, will be".

However, the Deputy Prime Minister was under growing pressure from disgruntled Labour MPs to go public with his private concerns about the Prime Minister's close support for the Bush administration in its role in the Middle East.

4. Just heard Sidney Blumenthal with Sam Seder (Majority Report) say that
he has it on impeccable authority--from someone very high up in the Bushite discussions--that the NeoCon cabal has been pushing Israel to invade Syria. I figured with Lebanon that we were looking at Plan B of the "Project for a New American Century." With over 80% of the American people opposed to any U.S. participation in a widened Mideast war (according to one poll), and the whole world against it, Plan B is: get Israel to do it. This is by no means something that will benefit Israel or make it more secure. This is the Roman Emperors using a proxy army--and I hope that the Israelis wake up in time, and realize what a perilous alliance this is, with the despised Bush regime. Even the British are bailing. So Israel is left with only one friend on earth--the most hated U.S. government in history. And what is at risk here, for Israel, is the friendship of the American people, who have been stalwart supporters of Israel.

I'm just sitting here shaking my head. I can't imagine a worse situation for Israel. It seems to have nowhere to go but the destruction of Israel and a conflagration in the Middle East. And I think the only way out is something I've been proposing here for some weeks: a dramatic gesture of peace towards Iran, by Israel, perhaps an apology for Israel's part in destroying Iran's democracy in 1954 (and inflicting the Iranian people with the horrible Shah of Iran and 25 years of torture and oppression), and Israel forming an ALLIANCE with IRAN--yes, with Iran--to oust the Bush Cartel from the Middle East.

The world would weep for joy if Israel did such a thing--and it would instantly gain billions of friends.

5. The whole world knows the truth of Prescott's statement.
Only the most rabid right-wingers would argue.

History will judge Bush very hard, and those toadies who follow him.
We need a few more to speak up like Prescott.
