Black students ordered to give up seats to white children
Status of Red River Parish bus driver is unknown.

COUSHATTA -- Nine black children attending Red River Elementary School were directed last week to the back of the school bus by a white driver who designated the front seats for white children.

The situation has outraged relatives of the black children who have filed a complaint with school officials.

Superintendent Kay Easley will meet with the family members in her office this morning.

2. "And the nine children had to share only two seats"??
:wtf:

I honestly can't say I know whether or not racial prejudice motivated the actions of this bus driver based upon this article to draw conclusions about that, but putting nine kids in two seats is patently irresponsible and makes me more inclined to believe this person is also a racist idiot too.

5. I don't think that there is any doubt.
"I honestly can't say I know whether or not racial prejudice motivated the actions of this bus driver" - no doubt, at all. If anyone came arrive at an alternative motive for this action other than racism, please let me know.

6. I don't know
Bus full of screaming kids, some kids are misbehaving in front. Those kids happen to be black and a frustrated bus driver tells those kids to go in the back and some other kids to come up front. Those kids happen to be white. That article doesn't say what was said (unless I missed it) or if the driver had a history of previous prejudicial behavior.

7. When I rode a school bus(they had just converted from
horse-drawn wagons ;))the driver would do the opposite of that. Bad kids in front and good kids in back. I think that if that had been the situation, this would not have been presented in this way. I could be wrong, but a solution to disciplinary problem would have been the thing out of the authorities mouths if they could legitimately use it, IMO. I suppose we will just have to wait and see, but still I don't doubt the racism motive...

9. "Why is this happening again?"
That's a good question, Mr. Panell.

Too bad nobody at the school board seems to want to answer it.
