http://www.prospect.org/midterm/TN SEN: CORKER KEEPS TAX RECORDS UNDER WRAPS. It's become a standard campaign practice in recent years that candidates for statewide office release their tax return records for public scrutiny. But some candidates, including Tennessee Senate hopeful Bob Corker (R), are balking at the practice.
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. has released full copies of his federal income tax returns for the past four years, while Republican candidate Bob Corker has released only a summary of his returns.

Reporters have been requesting Corker's full tax returns since before the Aug. 3 primary.
Before Corker won the GOP nomination, primary rivals hinted that Corker may have something to hide. The questions didn't undermine Corker's campaign -- he won the three-way primary easily -- but the questions haven't gone away either.
The Corker campaign has suggested some parts of his tax records are open to misinterpretations. Harold Ford's senior campaign adviser, Michael Powell, said the Memphis Democrats trusts voters to exercise good judgment.

Corker is the second GOP candidate for statewide office this month to refuse to release tax information to the public, following Ohio gubernatorial candidate Kenneth Blackwell (R).
