Services were held this weekend for U.S. Army 1st Lt. Ashley Laine Henderson Huff, 23, who died in Iraq on Sept. 19. Huff was a native of Covington and spent her childhood in Baton Rouge.

She wanted to go to law school, yet her life, like so many others was cut short because of an IED. Following the recent number of soldiers to die in Iraq one notices a distinct pattern, our boys and girls are not dying fighting the terrorists, nay they are being picked off one by one by IED's and snipers. The recent deaths are also of young officers, 1st or 2nd Lts. are dying more nowadays.
