Chip Off The Old Blog

Who better to offer insight on the Foley affair than the Capitol's second-most-famous Internet-abetted sex-scandal queen? According to blogger-cum-Playboy poser Jessica Cutler, "There's a serious sexual harassment problem on The Hill and you are basically ruining your career if you complain."

In her experience, the Washingtonienne scribe says, "Most congressmen are smart people, and they know that if they want a career in politics, they have to give up their IM habit. But there are always those who will stare at your boobs and give you a look that says, 'What are you going to do about it?'"

While she had little contact with pages during her time as a Senate staffer, Cutler says she saw an environment rife with vulgar innuendo and retro attitudes (which is why, one assumes, she fit right in.) "In Senator Dewine's office, there was a reception area, and he just wanted girls there. There were plenty of male interns and staffers around, but you knew it was the 'pretty-girl-behind-a-desk' thing."
