James Baker and his clientele
Let's not kid ourselves about who Baker serves.

His clients are the Saudi royal family first and foremost as are Poppa Bush's so they got Baker to head up this commendations team in order to do what makes the Saudis the most happy. What makes them the most happy? Aside for the increased money in their pocket that supposed instability in the region brings the control of that instability is paramount to them. As one of IRaq's neighbors that is never mentioned when talking about their neighbors the House of Saud is concerned about keeping the instability out of their front and back yard.

The Saudis treat the religous nuts in their court the same way the Republicans do here- appease them and then do what they were going to do anyway all the time telling them *wink* "dont' worry brother we are a team" *wink*

So Poppa outmaneuvers Cheney and the neo-cons and gets Baker to head the group. The neo-cons have already gotten their main goal accomplished that is a permenant US presence in the Middle East. Whether we pull back the troops to Kuwait or Qatar or out in the Iraqi desert it has been achieved.

Oh and one more thing-driving into work I heard that "don't look for anything radical or different" about the ISG's report much in the same way everyone was told to pay the 9/11 Commission little attention just listen to us we will tell you all you need to know. Well the 9/11 Commission missed all kinds of things but it is still a good starting point for research in that it has all the basic elements in there. Same with this I suspect.
