The REAL War on Christmas |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 09:10 PM by usregimechange
As the holiday season approaches I am remembering the debate last year about “the war on Christmas.” There were protests denouncing local stores and citizens who chose to show respect to people of other religions by using the phrase “Happy Holidays.”
So this year I have some advise: If you believe so strongly that your religion is the correct one (as people of all religions tend to do) you can best serve and promote it by fighting for the principles that your religion promotes.
I believe that some of the greatest enemies of Christianity call themselves Christians. Christianity isn’t a slogan and it doesn’t need official promotion or the use of coercion to prosper. The real war on Christmas comes from those who ignore the values of Jesus in order to promote the veneer of nominal Christianity.

1. He's made a good point |

the folks who are Christians don't make a spectacle out of themselves-they simply go about living their life according to the teachings of Jesus.
One minor quibble-I think all paths lead to God, so I don't see mine as the "correct" one- it's just the one for me.

most of us us who are not Christians simply go about living our lives in a manner which I'm sure Jesus would approve

For where two or three are shopping together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

4. It's called the "No True Scotsman" fallacy |
|
And to the people who say that somebody who did evil things was "not a True Christian", ferinstance Adolph Hitler, please find a site that explains logic. Look up the "No True Scotsman" fallacy.
That's the fallacy some people are using to cover up bad behavior. :banghead:
