The Great Lie - Education Will Save Us (Huffpo) J. Tasini
(snip) Over and over again, the people of our country hear that the solution to inadequate wages, disappearing heath care, vanishing pensions, and staggering personal debt is quite simple: get educated. It may sound right but it's utterly phony.

Hardly a day goes by when politicians or pundits don't slip in a plug for a "smarter" workforce.(snip)

He's talking about the destruction of the educated middle class. Kids don't go into science and technology because America doesn't spend money on R&D so we have lots of unemployed scientists.

They say that the sectors of the economy with jobs are things that can't be outsourced, like law.
Well I have an A.A.S., a B.A. and a J.D. and I think they are lying. (My editorial comment)

1. A lot of folks aren't buying it
Either they or people they know have been offshored out of a job, gone into debt for retraining, and then found the job they'd retrained to fill had gone offshore, too.

Those fat, conservative frauds are simply blaming the victims of their own shortsighted and disastrous policies. They're on the gravy train and they blame anyone they've thrown off it for being weak or stupid or lazy.

The fact is that the US already has a highly educated and highly skilled work force by all measurements. The problem is that American workers have to be paid in dollars instead of cheap currencies like rupees or pesos.

We could become a nation of PhDs and still be out of work. We've simply been abandoned and most of us know it.

2. Oh boy, the general public is catching on!
Now how long is it going to be that those that this system blesses will be able to shove this "world trade" crap down the throat of Joe Six Pac

3. Exactly how much education does a person need

to be able to say "Do you want fries with that?"

It's about all that's left, employment-wise.

There was some local whining that we can't get SERVICE SECTOR jobs to come into West Virginia because not enough people had college degrees.

College has become the new high school.
