Government leaving Hicks to 'rot'
(snip)
The Democrats' foreign affairs spokeswoman Natasha Stott Despoja said the Government was leaving terror suspect Hicks to rot inside Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Hicks today declined a telephone call from his family, prompting more fears about his mental state after being detained by the US at Guantanamo Bay for five years without trial.

She called for the Government to immediately ensure the US granted permission for a team of medical professionals to visit Hicks.

"Guantanamo Bay sounds like a hellhole,'' Senator Stott Despoja said.
