This war will wind down when the oil distribution law, or whatever they call it, is signed. It was all about the oil, from day one (really from before day one). Once it is passed by the Iraqi Government that we set up for just this very reason, we will start winding down and leave just enough troops in Iraq to make sure that they don't renege on the law, and to keep Iran in line. If this turns out to be the case, than Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and everyone else in government and the oil companies should be put on trial for murdering almost a million human beings for profit. Big Oil has gotten its hands on all that light crude and can pump for another twenty years.

Bush will claim that we have done all we can do to bring democracy to Iraq. He will claim that he doesn't want to waste more "innocent" lives for people unwilling to stand up for themselves and turn to the Iraq Study Group's recommendations (that was put together by James Baker III, THE NO1 Oil Man), and take our troops out of the hard fighting in the cities and they will stay on the big military installations with the premise that we are there to make sure that Al Qaeda will not use Iraq for a training ground.

This will be greeted by very happy liberals who will believe that we have backed Bush down. The rest of the country will believe that Bush has finally started showing that he can "compromise" and they too will be happy. Everyone will be delighted with this new turn of events except the people that know better. The people that know better will be the people that have done their homework and know it is all about control of the oilfields. Their cries of foul play will go unheeded, and in the back rooms of Washington and Texas, there will be much back slapping and smiles because one of the greatest con-jobs in world history will have gone down without a hitch.

While Big Oil and the Bush Administration dance with each other, the losers of this big game, the one that didn't even really know they were playing a game in the first place, will just go their own way. The Iraqi people, the poor Iraqi people that have never controlled their own oil, or made a profit off of their only big resource, will see this resource slip away once again. The other losers, the people that buy gasoline and heating oil, the factories that use petroleum products to make plastics and fertilizers and animal feed, will pay through the nose. Big Oil will have its hands firmly on the oil spigot, manufacturing oil shortages when they turn it to the left, so they can keep prices high, and turning it to the right to increase the flow when circumstances dictate that more oil should hit the market. Remember, this is light sweet crude, not heavy sludge like the Venezuelan stuff.

Everything we have gone through in the last four years comes down to this. I don't know about you, but it gets me a little sick to my stomach. I'm not a wizard though. I've read enough to know that I'm on the right track. People that read my articles know that I'm a big fan of Greg Palast. In his book "Armed Madhouse", he pretty much spells it out for us. What's a shame is that Elizabeth Hasselbeck over at the View won't read books like this. She's probably got her nose stuck in People Magazine during the commercials of American Idol, and when Rosie O'Donnell is trying to tell her what is really going on, she has it from the top, The American President, that we are fighting them over there, so we won't have to fight them here. Rosie doesn't understand that Al Qaeda "will follow us home". Sure they will, on a rented Learjet from Exxon/Mobil. The American people are just too lazy to learn the truth. In fact, they are so damn lazy, they don't want to know. Knowing means more thinking. Thinking is too much like work.

1. I think Americans knew

I protested locally before the war began, and we had counter-protesters who came and held signs that said INVADE IRAQ-STEAL THE OIL. These people actually thought we had the right to go over to a country and grab the oil because, darn it, we needed it. This was in rural Arkansas, so I can guess this sentiment was echoed in places with larger populations.
