Richardson Adept As Recreational Hunter
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 4:25 a.m. ET

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) -- Bill Richardson -- governor, presidential candidate, hunter -- is a good shot, and he has the prey to prove it.

''I would call myself a recreational hunter. I am not an avid hunter or an expert hunter,'' Richardson said in a recent interview with The Associated Press.

..cut..

n campaign appearances, Richardson cites his Western political roots to explain his positions on issues such as gun control and an endorsement by the National Rifle Association during his gubernatorial re-election last year.

And what happened to the elk meat?

''We ate it -- at the mansion,'' said Richardson.

I would bet at Dickie's canned hunts he rarely eats what he kills.

2. Richardson is for real on the gun issue...
nor is he is NOT a "gun rights for hunters only" candidate, which is important since only 1 in 5 gun owners hunts.

Dems and the Gun Issue - Now What? (written in '04, largely vindicated in '06, IMO)

3. I hate hunting. I do not agree with killing other living creatures for sport.

4. Remember the Repubs made an issue of hunting with J Kerry

Kerry fired all sorts of weapons in Nam. They said that didn't count. He went hunting in Oct. 2004 without the press and managed to not shoot any friends in the face. :-) Is that oneupmanship?
