US awards $10 million to Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines
Edited on Thu Jun-07-07 11:49 PM by Phrogman
Because thats exactly what happened here, to hand out such an incredibly large amount of cash, on Jolo island pretty much guaranteed that a percentage would of had to go to the Abu's for the collectors of the reward (and their families)to be able to survive the night.

This is an outrage! Theres now 10 million dollars released on the island used as a home base for this very dangerous terrorist group.

Jolo, Philippines - The United States handed over on Thursday 10 million dollars to four informants who helped Philippine troops track down and kill two senior Muslim Abu Sayyaf rebel leaders.

US Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney handed the reward to two former Abu Sayyaf rebels and two civilian informants during a ceremony on Jolo island, 1,000 kilometres south of Manila.

'I'm proud to give 10 million dollars. I would be proud to give 10 million dollars more to other citizens who will step forward and keep this country safe,' said Kenney.

The Abu Sayyaf has been blamed for some of the worst terrorist attacks in the Philippines, as well as high-profile kidnappings-for-ransom cases involving foreigners.
