Civics Quiz: Is Cheney Part of the Executive Branch?

Vice President Dick Cheney Refuses to Hand Over Classified Documents to National Archives

- Share A quick civics quiz: Is the vice president part of the executive branch? You might think the answer is obvious, but apparently not to Vice President Dick Cheney.

The man a heartbeat away from the Oval Office asserts that some rules that apply to everyone else in the executive branch do not apply to him.

Cheney has refused to comply with a request from the National Archives to hand over classified documents. The vice president's office insists that, unlike every other employee of the executive branch, that rule does not include him and his staff.

At a White House briefing, deputy press secretary Dana Perino was asked if the president believes Cheney is part of the executive branch.

"I think that's an interesting constitutional question, and I think that lots of people can debate it," Perino said.

1. Lord Cheney is a branch unto himself.
How dare you question the authority of the lord god. May you repent, or be struck with his vengeance!
We must unite around our faith in L.G. Cheney, give unconditionally without question. For it is written.

cheney is and is not in the executive branch. He is and is not in the legislative branch. He owns and does not own the Judiciary. And most importantly he is not to be held accountable to anyone for anything. That is the America that conservatives want.

and as an aside comment, dana perino is an ignorant slut who obviously has no concern for her resume. No doubt a junior fellowship at the heritage foundation is in her future.

7. According to Article II of the United States of America....

He most certainly is.

The real problem is that Congress has shown absolutely no backbone when dealing with the Junta (well, ok, Congress has some spine, but it is riddled with osteoperosis and arthritis.) Cheney apparently believes that all that will come of his blatantly unconstitutional, treasonous powergrab is a bit of finger shaking and a polite (but stern!) talking-to that he can totally ignore.

Now, someone please tell me that Congress' instance that "impeachment is off the table" and their apparent willingness to bend over for the Executive Branch was all just a clever ploy to feed the Junta enough rope. Please, someone. Anyone!

Anyone?
