"You Don't Know Dick" (1)
by Dr. Gerry Lower | Jun 29 2007

Dick Cheney, in single-handedly redefining the means and purposes of government in the U.S., has suggested that the Office of Vice-President is not part of the executive branch of government. Thus, our "Go f*#k yourself" Vice-President is not bound by executive orders on the handling of classified materials. Yes, this is the very same Vice-President who has worked so hard to push the envelope on "executive privilege" at the expense of the courts, Congress and the people (2).

This brings up several relevant questions: When do you suppose that Dick Cheney came to recognize that George W. Bush was, on his own, intellectually incapable of advancing political positions on any relevant subject? When do you suppose that Cheney came to recognize that Bush was deeply in need of ideological guidance? When do you suppose that Cheney came to know that Bush was entirely controllable from above, faithfully subservient to whomever he had to depend on for neoconservative Republican guidance?

It is certain that Cheney was fully aware of Bush's ideological shortcomings long before Bush asked Cheney to identify suitable candidates to serve as Bush's vice-presidential running mate. It is certain that Cheney advanced himself as the perfect vice-presidential candidate because he had his own neoconservative agenda for America - an agenda entirely devoid of the values of Jeffersonian democracy but fully embedded in Old Testament Romanism and capitalism 's inherent despotism (3).

But the real question is this: When do you suppose that Bush will come to see that his self-anointed Vice-President has destroyed the Bush presidency and Bush's presidential legacy, destroyed the Congressional rule and credibility of the right wing Republican party, destroyed what little was left of democracy in the United States, and destroyed America's image and reputation in the eyes of the world?

With Bush's assertion of "executive privilege" for Harriet Miers and Sara Taylor to cover their involvement in the firing of federal prosecutors (5), Bush maintains Cheney's requirement for utter secrecy in government so as to keep the people in the dark about how Cheney's government actually works. He does so, as always, at his own expense.

President Bush really ought consider awakening unto the simply human truth and the fact that he sits atop the most incompetent and corrupt administration in U.S. history. Unfortunately (to employ Cheney's political verbiage), Bush is "f*#ked" either way, whether he embraces the truth or ignores the truth. There is no recovery from the utterly mindless situation created by Dick Cheney.
