Bush is Bluffing: The Farce of 'Executive Privilege' - Q & A's from NPR
http://www.alternet.org/story/55718/

When the White House invoked executive privilege, it wasn't invoking anything in the Constitution. Here's an attempt to clarify Bush's murky argument.

Clinton became the fist(sic) president since Nixon to invoke executive privilege and lose in the courts, when a federal judge ruled Clinton aides could be called to testify in the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Neither side wants to get mired in a protracted legal battle, so the prospect of a negotiated solution is more likely. Since 1975, 10 senior administration officials have been called to testify before Congress, but the disputes were all resolved before getting to court. No president has mounted a court fight to keep his aides from testifying on Capitol Hill.

1. When has Bush 'bluffed' before?
No, he's giving us the finger once again. If you think he's going to back down based on some really, really angry words from our 'leaders', you haven't been paying a bit of attention during the last 6+ years.

2. That was before the packed SCOTUS illegally forced the petulant (p)Resident on us.
And before the Democratic leadership allowed TWO more REICH wing fascists on the court.

3. He won't back down
Bush and his enablers are either too stupid, too arrogant or too power-mad to back down on anything. It's like getting in a car and playing "Chicken" with a blind guy, they have no sense of how much trouble they're in.

4. We have criminals fighting the citizens. With lawyers and the
equivalent of guns and armour. They despise us. They laugh at us. They are not citizens.
