Schwarzenegger cuts funds for children with cancer.
Wouldn't if be fun to have a movie star as governor of California? Not for everyone.

The heaviest cuts include capping enrollments in several programs, including Healthy Families, which subsidizes health insurance for poor children, and a program that covers the medical expenses of children with cancer, heart conditions, cerebral palsy and other serious disorders.

Alan Lewis, a cardiac pediatrician who treats patients under the program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, predicted a fractious debate over Schwarzenegger's proposals.

"It's unconscionable to take the economic savings that we know the state has got to do and put that burden literally on the life of a young child," Lewis said.

"This is looking a child in the eye and saying, 'No, you're going to have to wait to be treated.' "

2. What an asshole.
No we don't care about kids at all. This is what the Republican party is telling us. I used to like his movies, but now I am just so disgusted by him. I don't know about you but I am fucking sick and tired of the Republicans.

6. I may have to watch "Predator" again.

Before Schwarzenegger stole the CA governors office I liked him, Republican or not. Now I can't stand him. These cuts take the cake. Next time I watch "Predator," I'm rooting for the alien. I'll just pretend that the alien is out to stop a guy who would cut treatment for children with cancer. It's a whole new movie.

4. The weak are always the first to fall by the wayside ...
as compassionate conservatism shows itself for what it is. Haven't we learned anything from history? The rich got their tax cuts - rejoice and await the trickling!

7. Well, Eunice, what do you think of your son-in-law now?
Seems Juan Peron Schwarzenegger's real character is coming out now. And we won't discuss Evita Maria...

Next, I'm waiting for the gas chambers for the retarded people, so you don't have to waste any more money on that Special Olympics stuff, RIGHT?????????

8. last I heard, these cuts still have to be approved by the legislature
Edited on Sat Jan-10-04 04:05 PM by depakote_kid
So, if they go through- any of them, it will only be with the aid of the overwhelmingly Democratic California legislature. Not that this would surprise me, seeing how they have a long history of selling out their constituencies and voting whichever way the wind (and money) flows. This being an election year, however, the smart thing to do would be to draw up a sharply contrasting proposal, dig in their heels and expose so called "compassionate conservatism" for what it is. Put together exposes and press releases that include stories of real people who are already suffering and who would suffer even worse or even die if the Republican plans are implemented, followed by stories of wealthy influential people and corporations- especially out of state corporations- who make out like bandits. Give Californians a brutally honest assessment and then let them chose whose side that they are really on.

9. yeah, but the Golem will be on tv bashing the legislatchah
and how they want business as usual, pulling the wool over our eyes, and all the other bs he dosed us with during the recall. The tv will air it, talk about how the Dems in Sacramento don't care about California, hate our state and want to see it fail

"brutally honest assessments" don't happen in America anymore...
