Every Picture Tells a Story

Actions of course speak louder than words, it is an old adage and we’ve heard it all before since childhood. Words alone are never enough, in all peace conferences or treaties the act of human touch is required symbolically but touch without action is meaningless. George Bush ran for President on the moniker that he was a compassionate conservative now six years in and he has proven he is neither compassionate nor conservative. The actions don’t fit the rhetoric.

The tidal wave that struck the coast of Indonesia prompted an outpouring of aid from the world’s nations. Australia sent doctors China sent food, Japan sent food and tents the European Union sent tents and logistical support the United States sent military helicopters. Obstentsibly the helicopters were to be used to look for survivors but by the time the helicopters arrived the survivors were long gone.

Fortunately the rebels that the Indonesian government has been fighting were still in the jungle so the choppers won’t go to waste. Perhaps it was just ham handed or inept attempt at aid yet the message cannot be missed the United States government sent killing machines to a humanitarian crisis.

In our own domestic human disasters the administration is clumsy like the old childless aunt around children. The administration turns on its incredible finger-pointing machine to showcase their one true talent placing blame on others. Meanwhile while thousands sweltered and suffered in the Superdome as the Vice President used his influence to divert electrical power from the suffering to the corporate, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Once the media stopped taking pictures the administration stopped speaking it’s thousand words leaving a cultural icon for the entire western world to rot in the mud like a gar on the riverbank. Did they get the refinery running? Is the waterway open? Mission Accomplished!

The grand political stage play performed in conjunction with the run up to Iraq complete with more lies than a cheating spouse and no more planning than a sandlot football game. A Wagnerian opera where the hero talks with the Gods for the strength to do his mission but perhaps however they should have stayed until the end to find out that the hero always fails.

The administration unveils the shiny automatic revolving lie machine. Wmd’s, Saddam, bringing democracy, liberating the poor oppressed Iraqi people. Wringing their hands the administration laments, if only there was some way to alter reality to make it fit our lies. Oh wait! We have the media for that, compliant and pliable, prostituting themselves in their fiduciary responsibility selling out of both the Iraqi and the American public. Sentencing the Iraqi public to unspeakable horrors and the American’s to chronic ignorance. Believing that after they went down on their knee’s and swallowed the administration message that they could some how get up again and not be whores anymore.

It should be chiseled in stone at every university teaching journalism, ALL SALES FINAL there is no return or exchange policy on souls once sold. But look on the bright side if you lie successfully and cleverly long enough maybe you to can become the press secretary.

Don’t ever forget America, this administrations criminal lies were aided and abetted by those who were paid to investigate and to know better. By God they are imbedded as well, the blood is just as surely imbedded on their hands. But they continue to sing the sirens song with words written by the administration, still modifying reality to the prevarication de Jure.

We came to liberate, yet only guard the oil ministry. We removed the hated dictator and then moved into his palaces and began to give orders. What picture does that generate? Our actions speak louder than our words, Baghdad still has sketchy basic services and the country with the second greatest known oil reserves in the world has gas rationing but the construction of largest US embassy complex in the world is right on schedule.

Seen any pictures of it on TV? Of course not, it sends the wrong picture a picture of an occupier not of a liberator. We have established a free Iraqi government, elected under our auspices, living under our protection and chastised when they fail to do as they are told and removed when they make a habit of it. It makes for a pretty picture but that is all it is a picture.

Those poor Iraqi lackeys don’t know yet who they are dealing with eight million Americans set to lose their homes this year and the administration is silent about their plight. So when the Iraqi lackey’s no longer serve their purpose do they think they will be protected from street justice? Maybe they do realize that once they pass the ownership of Iraqi oil on to the new Saddam’s they can be dispensed with. By an administration so ignorant of history as to not know which is the correct Vietnamese flag to post on their web site?

They are dead men walking and I take no joy in saying that for were all dead men walking here. The administration policies are nothing less than slash and burn politics behaving politically as our stone aged ancestors once behaved agriculturally. A disgraceful regime that would be denigrated were it in a third world country, more of the caliber of sub Saharan Africa of Libya or Liberia. Every picture tells a story and this one is an obscenity, in reality nothing more than a crime scene photo.

Of a nation’s principles raped and strangled by belligerent psychopaths aided and abetted by profiteers and a media that has abdicated its role as guardian of the republic and joined the pirates for a share of the public plunder. Ignoring their own crimes as well as the crimes they are paid to report like a crooked cop waving their badge around as if it gives them some authority or credibility in their disgrace. Poor Katie cries as her ratings fall but don’t take it personal Katie it’s not about you its about all of the whores.

Maybe we are tired of hearing about what a good fiddle player Nero is? Or tired of hearing Congress tune their own fiddles trying to out fiddle Nero. Maybe we smell smoke? And maybe were tired of having it blown up our ass?

Maybe we as a people are reaching a moment of clarity as reality and the facts on the ground don’t match either political ideology or media foisted perception. Never in the history of America including the reign of George the third has there been and administration more deserving of removal. Never has there been a Congress more prone to disingenuous dithering while protecting the status quo.Through either ineptitude or incompetence driving the multitudes from their tents to more revolutionary solutions.

The media like street corner crack whores lean on the lamppost wondering why no one wants them anymore. As executives are hired and fired trying to get the old magic back trying to give the silver back to the Pilate but its too late for that. There is no rehabilitation for traitors regardless of profession.

Either we reclaim our nation and drag it kicking and screaming back to its principles or we will lose it forever. History will record what we do here; will our actions speak louder than our words?

1. I'm a big fan of your essays.
Your words have a certain flow to them that makes me think that they would sound great, read aloud. I have a feeling that you'd deliver this very well if it were a speech. Have you thought about putting out podcasts? I can help...

Except I'd request to you (and everyone) to not equate the media to crack whores. Street Corner Whores, fine, but Crack Whores? There's a connotation to that, can't decide if it's racist or sexist, which I find really distasteful.

4. Hi,
Daveparts,

If you want your personal email address taken off this page ( you'll get SO MUCH SPAM if you leave it on here so I really suggest it... ) then all you need to do is click on the "alert" link on the left, beneath this message, and ask a moderator for help.

I don't know how the alert messages get distributed. I talked about this issue this morning with moderator muriel_volestrangler -- so she would be a person to reference.

I'll write you later tonight with some links on podcasting. Thanks for the link to Deek Jacksons, I'll give it a listen.
