The Killers of Love
The Killers of Love

**********************************************************************
Let's talk about love.

You know, the love you feel for your kids (probably that most of all), but also the love which our children so limitlessly give to us -- which opens our hearts. It doesn't get any better than that, does it? And of course our lovers, Mothers, and brothers. Family love. And that unique, passionate intimacy we share with our mates.

But it can also be how you feel about Mother Nature or that dog or cat in your living room who loves you so unconditionally. For some of us, it's a piece of music or a sunset or a country.

But whoever or whatever it is, it's life at its most consummated. NOTHING takes precedence over love. It never has and never will. Not institutionalized religion (which is always playing catch up with the real thing) and certainly not science, which for all its knowledge and practicality never seems to get it that love transcends everything. And this isn't criticizing science. It's just saying that there are very few scientists who wouldn't unhesitatingly abandon their epistemology to save an endangered son or daughter. First things first.

So why do we NEVER think about love when we look at George Bush or listen to the infinitely self righteous Evangelicals? What do our hearts say about these people? The funny thing about hearts is that they never seem to be wrong, and though the voices may be small, they always see straight through Pharisee types and money lusters. The greed heads and liars. The contaminators of spirituality. The people who should wash out their mouth before they say God.

Liars and lovers don't mix. And our President is a liar. He's lied to us about everything, beginning with Iraq. Now he's lying to us about Iran and global warming. He wouldn't give you a straight answer if you asked him the way to the bathroom.

But Bush is just one man. The Evangelicals are a virtual army of hard hearted hypocrites. How close do you think these people are to the love and compassion of Jesus Christ? Or to the Buddha, or Mohamed, or the Hebrew Prophets?

And for that matter aren't Muslim "Holy Warriors" (that ultimate contradiction in terms) and those Zionists who seem to be forever coveting Palestinian real estate, also killers of love?

Perhaps it would be helpful to put these real estate coveter's, holy warriors, mindless Evangelicals, Gestapo Dick Cheney’s, and Bush/Saudi Royal Family liars before our vulnerable hearts. This writer is just one human, one American, but may I respectfully ask each of you what your heart and conscience is whispering to you now?

Surely our beloved country and dying planet deserves better than these ultimate betrayers of love.

1. Ishk
Those who love loving pour forth radiance; these are the sons and daughters of God -Samuel L. Lewis

The quality of "Ishk" (Love) can be felt and seen in those whose hearts have been opened to It. Those who have closed their hearts are dark. Work on your own light, and spreading it among those whose hearts are open.
