Toronto Star: Bush `outed' on Iraq
Bush `outed' on Iraq

And so it comes out.

Invading Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein was a top priority at U.S. President George Bush's very first National Security Council meeting — seven full months before the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks Bush then cited as a reason for "pre-emptively" disarming Saddam's regime.

"From the very beginning, there was a conviction that Saddam Hussein was a bad person and that he needed to go," former Treasury secretary Paul O'Neill has confirmed in a whistle-blowing appearance on the CBS program 60 Minutes.

"It was all about finding a way to do it. That was the tone of it. The president saying `Go find me a way to do this.'"

4. It's so true.
I remember saying it to people and and other people saying it also. It was like it was just a given that he would need a war or more than one war to manipulate people. And that they would want a war or two for their own purposes. Sick.

3. We shouldn't forget Afghanistan, folks.

Plenty of people were aware of the US/Taliban pipeline deal, prior to 9/11 too.

edit: to be clear, we shouldn't stutter if a freeper mentions Afghanistan - it was a regional conquest that was planned pre-9/11, and we can use the conversation begun/continued because of O'Neil to solidify our debate platform. ;)

5. Now if Afghanistan & Iraq were planned before 9/11
What does that tell you about 9/11? LIHOP or MIHIP? There is no way this administration was not up to their eyeballs in the planing & execution of what happened on September 11, 2001.
