"Secret" O'Neill document already available on web...
From www.whoslying.org:

The Great Lie of the Paul O'Neill Secret Document Investigation
(14 January 2004 07:21) Contributed by John W. Royal
Background

None needed.

Statement

"The Treasury Department has asked for a probe into former Treasury secretary Paul O'Neill's possible misuse of documents that may have been classified, a department spokesman said Monday....

"At least one of the documents was shown Sunday during an interview on CBS' 60 Minutes..."

"Treasury Seeks Probe Into Papers Taken By O'Neill," USA Today, Jan. 12, 2004

Reasonable Inference

Confidential documents were shown on 60 Minutes.

Contradictory Statement

"What a scoop, guys! The document Paul O'Neill showed on 60 Minutes and is now under the investigation for, has been available via Judicial Watch since last July. It's titled "Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oil Contracts," and it is available here.

Judicial Watch FOIA'd the thing, something CBS producers apparently never learned to do...."

Corey Pein, "Document on 60 Minutes Wasn't Secret," Poynter Forums, Jan. 13, 2004

Comment

"O'Neill, 68 says in a Time magazine article that he's prepared for any retribution for his new criticism: "I'm an old guy, and I'm rich. And there's nothing they can do to hurt me."

1. Yes, I said that on another thread but got no response.
I remember a link here last summer. The link took you to the original document; a map showing oil exploration sites in Iraq. I thought it was part of Cheney's energy papers. I guess it was Judicial watch.

In any case, I couldn't understand why Bushco was making such a big thing about it - it was available on the web nearly a year ago. It's somewhere in the DU archives.
