Why Are Most Democratic Senators Hiding Even From Censure?
by Matthew Rothschild

When the history of the Bush Administration is finally written, the date of August 6, 2007, should stand out.

That was the day that a pair of identical resolutions were introduced in the Senate and in the House to censure George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Alberto Gonzales for a catalogue of sins, which could easily be turned into an impeachment bill of particulars.

One resolution deals with the Iraq War, the other with various assaults on the Constitution.

Together, the charges include:

Misleading the nation into the Iraq War.

Authorizing the NSA to illegally spy on Americans.

Allowing the torture of detainees, and denying them due process rights.

Misleading Congress and the American people about the firings of the U.S. attorneys, and obstructing investigations into this scandal.

And undermining acts of Congress by flagrant use of signing statements.

Senator Russ Feingold introduced the two measures in the Senate. ......(more)

2. They just want it all to go away in 2008. That's the plan.

3. here is one of the replies to that article:

Matthew,

(Should you read this post)…

I swear, are you really as naive and gullible as you appear to be?

The day that you put down your Dems’ koolaid and fully understand who and what the Dems are will be the day that you stop sounding as though you don’t understand why the Dems aren’t doing this and aren’t that for We The People. The Dems work for the Bush Crime Family. Period.

The Dems have been the Bush Crime Family’s enablers and best allies since Day One with their repeated “YES” votes (they were NOT required to vote “YES” but they did), their complicity and their silence. The Dems are not going to censure or impeach two of their own people (Bush/Cheney). The impeachment process would implicate the Dems as well because they have been complicit with and enablers of the Bush Crime Family. That is why “impeachment is off the table.” Maybe one day you’ll see that.

If you would see the Dems for who and what they are, you wouldn’t be asking these insipid questions.

If this sounds harsh, it’s because I have no patience whatsoever or room for Dem koolaid drinkers.

If you can’t see what the Dems are at this point in time, it’s because you don’t want to.

4. Just ask yourself.....
...what single entity drives all politicians? What is it that almost all of them will not live without? The answer, of course, is money. Contributions, to be more precise, and corporate donations if you want to nail it. Bush has made things easier on corporate America. That is what he was appointed to do. And, you can bet your sweet patooty they are not going to fund someone who takes away their ace in the hole.

No, it's not ALL about money. There are those who believe leaving Bush in office is our best chance of taking the WH in 08.
And frankly, they're right. Oh sure, we will most likely win it anyway, but leaving Bush in power makes it a sure thing!
So, why would they want to upset their "donation applecart" and lessen their odds of seizing power in 08? Because it is the right thing to do? Uh, beg your pardon, but they gave that virtue up years ago. Most who hold office in D.C. find how cozy things are and how comfortable one can be as long as they play "the game".

Quit looking to congress for heroes......they aint there!
