2. not sure I get the point-- this guy is adament that his friends must not...
...have died in vain but they did. Is he trying to deny that? Is he trying to find meaning in it? Or am I missing the point and he's acknowledging it? Sorry for being obtuse-- maybe I'm tired....

but his descriptions of "a day in the life" were interesting
