City of Boston to dump Smithfield products
Source: Workers Independent News

By Doug Cunningham

Boston and other cities in the Boston area have decided to officially drop Smithfield Food products. The move supports workers and activists who are going to the Smithfield Foods shareholders meeting this week to petition the company to meet with its Tar Heel, North Carolina workers who are trying to form a union. Organizations like the NAACP, National Baptists and the Mexican American Political Association will join workers and celebrities like Danny Glover, Susan Sarandon, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton in an effort to get Smithfield to work out a fair process for workers to decide on unionization.

1. Yay. Good for the city of Boston
About time politicians supported the people rather than lobbyists.

4. "..down by the banks of the river charles, that's where you'll find me...Boston you're my home"
Let's hope it's not a drop in the bucket, or river, but a trend to return of respect for unions this country dearly needs as a check on the powers of business interests that have run unchecked for too long.
