The Transformer
The Transformer
By David Glenn Cox

There was a time in America when we actually held elections to decide who would lead us. But well it got messy and expensive so instead we let the media decide who the candidates would be then frame the issues for us pick the fights and decide the winners.

But every generation has a river running through it’s political landscape and it’s impossible to be on both sides of the river. Unless of course you’re Hillary Robot Clinton the transformer. From her humble beginnings as a Goldwater girl she studied by firelight and became a corporate attorney fighting for truth and justice and the American way by working for Wal-Mart the home of low prices and even lower wages.

She met and married Bill and she transformed into the mild mannered Mrs. Clinton and baked cookies and said hi y’all from the governors mansion in Little Rock. But when Bill accended to the White House the urge was too strong like the incredible hulk she was changing again. In probably the noblest effort of her career she would lead the fight to reform America’s health care system. Her task force came up with many cost-effective useful ideas and she was to be praised.

But being just in from out of town Hillary didn’t realize that she was playing golf in a cow pasture and she well stepped in it. Those useful suggestions took money out of the pockets of the rich corporations that make the Washington world turn. They pilloried Hillary never in the Washington establishment’s history had they come so close to a public lynching.

She was down but she was not out she kept her poise and her dignity and resolved as the sun set behind her and with a fistful of dirt clenched in her hand, “As God is my witness I’ll never stand against corporate interests again!” Queue theme music, intermission.

The new Hillary was pleasant but not outspoken, polite but not contrite always ready to do battle but only with hazy non-descript enemies, nameless Republicans faceless media. The new transformer had arrived, from Arkansas Wal-Mart attorney to the Liberal Senator from New York.

She hit the ground running she was driven to bring to her district the first presidential candidate from their district in forty years. In politics like war being there firstest with the mostest is important and after 9-11 Hillary was ready to support the war and to help George Bush sound out the big words in My Pet Goat. But what if the winds of war blow the other way? Well this is the modern Hillary and being on both side of the issue is no trouble for a plugger.

She is as comfortable in boardrooms as she is in Union halls, she’s for free trade and will fight to see that the American worker gets that illusionary fair shake. She spoke in Selma reminiscing how her and Doctor King led the civil rights movement and adding a southern twang in her voice how that struggle would continued. Of course she added no suggestions as to how that would work only she supported it.

Then it was off to the AIPAC convention where mench Hillary explained that Iran was the biggest threat to Israel… er a America and that threat would be dealt with in a Hillary administration. Iran would not be allowed to build a nuclear weapon and threaten the region meaning Israel’s nuclear supremacy.

Then it’s off to the Peace rally, because Hillary wants peace and war and fair labor agreements and free trade. Tough environmental legislation and less government regulation. And a strong stands on Gay rights issues without including Gay marriage because Hillary is for every thing and against every thing and luke warm to every thing she not against.

She has gone from media pariah to media darling, they love Hillary they really do so much they have given her the Democratic nomination hands down. Not one vote has been cast or caucus held but the media will tell you Hillary has it in the bag. She has learned to play ball and to be a little this way and a little that way to promise everything while promising nothing at all. Most Democrats favor a complete withdrawal from Iraq but not Hillary she favors redeployment to up the road apiece.

Most Democrats want the Bush tax cuts repealed Hillary wants to let them run out then take a wait and see approach. If we wait what do you think we’ll see? We’ll see that Hillary’s not most Democrats that Hillary’s prime constituency is Hillary. But of all of the incarnations of Hillary Clinton the one that most disqualifies her from the nations highest office is the sum of what she has become which is more of the same.

We have been obliterated by the untier there are wars and rumors of wars. Our economy trembles and shutters with aftershocks. Our currency devalued 40% in six years with $ 400 billion in sub prime loans leveraging another $500 billion plus war costs headed for one trillion dollars. God Help us if we think the answer is more of the same.

It’s 1932 all over again credit is overextended, real wages are falling millions will lose their homes before Christmas. Ford and General Motors are demanding pay cuts from their workers or they threaten to move more plants over seas. Just as Henry Ford cut his $5.00 a day to $ 4.00 in 1932. But the auto makers problem isn’t wages it’s purchasing power it makes no difference how low you cut wages if no one can afford to buy just as it was in 1932. But this under reported event fully exposes the lie that globalism is about growth.

There is only one candidate with a track record of fighting corporations, only one who carries a union card in his wallet. One man who has consistently fought against the ongoing wars in both word and deed. Who voted against the patriot act who prophesized the excess that would come from it. A man who has a vision of America as it should be with jobs justice and equality.

Winston Churchill fathered the plan to invade the Dardanells in WW1 it was a costly and terrible defeat for Briton. Churchill was swept out of office in disgrace and it was said that he was washed up as a politician. But as the planning for the Normandy invasion progressed there was one politician who knew more of all the others all that could go wrong.

When Dennis Kucinich was mayor of Cleveland he stood against powerful banks and corporate interests defending a public electric company from a corporate take over. He succeeded in saving the utility but the banks forced Cleveland into default. Costing Kucinich his reputation sweeping him out of office in disgrace and it was said his career was finished. Of all of the candidates running for President who has the most experience fighting corporations?

Winston Churchill once said, “America can be counted on to do the right thing…after they’ve tried everything else.” We’ve tried everything else, we can’t stand more of the same, we can’t stand corporate media anointing the candidates. We need change, we need radical change a 180-degree change and there is only one candidate offering that. We need a candidate to transform America not themselves and that Candidate is Dennis Kucinich.
