Conservatives dominate op-ed pages
By David Bauder
Associated Press

George Will's column runs in more newspapers than any writer in the nation, according to a new study by a liberal media watchdog group that concludes conservative voices such as his dominate editorial pages.

Will's syndicated column runs at least once a month in 368 newspapers with more than 26 million in total circulation, said the Media Matters for America. The organization surveyed 96 percent of the nation's 1,430 English-language daily newspapers.

>
His group found that 60 percent of the daily newspapers print more conservative syndicated columnists each week than liberals. Twenty percent of the papers are dominated by liberals and 20 percent are balanced. Media Matters had no information on local columnists.

It's similar to how conservative talk radio voices dominate, although to a much more limited extent.

Waldman called it "one more nail in the coffin of the myth of liberal media bias." Better balance should be the goal, he said.

Special Report: Black and White and Re(a)d All Over
Black and White and Re(a)d All Over is a comprehensive and unprecedented analysis of syndicated columnists from 96 percent of English-language daily U.S. newspapers. Because of the time, labor, and difficulty involved in gathering such a wide scope of information about these newspapers, no one has ever before determined exactly where these columnists run. The report shows that conservatives are carried in far more newspapers, with much greater reach than their progressive counterparts, giving conservatives a distinct advantage Read the Report

2. Here is where the so called "center" is made
People who buy into msm's portrayal of events - what they "mean," are not going to be in a position to make an educated decision on any issue of importance.
The DLC/blue dog approach ACCEPTS that this is the way that it is and appeals to people on the basis of what they've learned from MSM (the bullshit).
Those of us who can see what's going on, who have committed ourselves to digging a little (or alot) deeper into issues, tend to get frustrated that the mass of people (the middle/center?) don't understand. Most of the people in this category, I believe, tend to side with Dennis Kucinich on issues but can't see backing him for President because he can't win.
The truth is that we have to build from the grassroots up to confront the shit that's going on. Fortunately, I believe, Howard Dean has a grasp of this and is doing something about it. When we are succesful in rebuilding our party from the grassroots up, we will be a force to be reckoned with.
How many doors are YOU willing to knock on?
How many phone calls are YOU willing to make?
How broad are you willing to build your internet contacts?
How much money can you donate to candidates who represent your views?
Our future hinges on the answers to these questions.

4. Doesn't matter
Any amount of facts is never going to matter to these people. They live in their own world.

5. Au Contraire - it ain't the facts, it's the framing

There are many voters who can be swayed if someone knocks on their door or called them and interacts with them. THIS HAS BEEN PROVEN TIME AND AGAIN. The absence of this method in many areas is why the Dem party gets whooped in close races.
