The importance of keeping a closed mind
Please tell me this is satire:

An open mind is like an open fly; it just exposes you to embarrassment and danger.

Unfortunately, being open-minded is one of those annoying virtues we’re supposed to embrace these days. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to listen to some absolute drivel and nod along sagely when the speaker justified it by saying “... you’ve got to keep an open mind.”

...

Of course, I can’t count the number of times this has happened because all of the above was hyperbole, but my point is that in the spirit of being open-minded, we’re expected to accept things that are just stupid.

...

I, for one, enjoy judging others. It passes the time, gives me something more interesting to talk about than the weather, and makes me feel better about my many failings.

2. Sounds like satire.
Closed minded attitudes lead to paranoia.

I struggle on some issues, obviously, but am trying to think of other perspectives. Ours are not the only ones.

There does, however, come a time when it is time TO close the door (e.g. Britney Spears, it's funny how her initials are "B.S." and all...)

3. it's an attempt at humor
but I do know people who think that way - that because some common sense issues over-rule an open mind, one should never have an open mind. It's that whole black/white mentality of the 23%ers.

4. I'd Rather Keep At Least One Foot In Reality
What passes for an open mind these days resembles paranoid delusion, fantasy and denial more than exploring possibilities of the natural world.
