The Clintons and the Bushes -- first chapter of Parry's book "Secrecy and Privilege" now online

The book opens with a scene early in the second year of Bill Clinton’s presidency with him explaining to White House guests why he didn’t pursue geopolitical scandals that had implicated George H.W. Bush in gross abuses of power and arguably criminal acts.

President Clinton made clear he saw historical truth as less important than his hopes for Republican cooperation on his domestic agenda. But this willingness to sweep major scandals under the rug left the White House back door ajar for a restoration of the Bush Family dynasty a half dozen years later – with disastrous consequences for the American Republic.

The relevance of this story today is that Bill Clinton’s misguided “pragmatism” seems to a characteristic of Hillary Clinton’s political persona, too, as she hedges her positions on the Iraq War and signals a willingness to support a dangerous confrontation with Iran.

4. Been saying this for a while now...
The Clinton have taken "pragmatism" to dangerous levels, and we are left paying the price.

As Grover Norquist once said:

"'Bi-partisanship' is another word for 'date-rape'."

I'm done with THAT, and with THEM.

6. Actually it’s those personal
Connections that really bother me about BOTH the Clintons.

I mean come on. Every time you see Bill now he’s standing next to
Bush Sr., It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was announced that Bill Clinton was offered and took a position with Carlisle.

Then we have Hillary being tagged by none other than FoxNews
owner Rupert Murdoch !!!

Be honest, What were your thoughts when you first heard about that one ?

8. Reality
The reality is that too many people see Hillary as "electable" and so she will most likely be the candidate. And probably will win the White House. The problem is too few people really see what it is that will be elected. Too many vote solely on party affiliation in this country. And too few vote in the primaries.

And we have ended up with a Congress controlled by DINOS and RINOS. Republicrats. Serving only the corporate interest along with their own self-interest instead of the public interest.

9. I don't think Bill Clinton was misguided
We enjoyed nearly a decade of peace and relative prosperity. Don't piss on it now, even if it meant that old scores weren't settled.

10. Seemingly so...

Without doubt the world was a much more peaceful world but as for the prosperity it was a seemingly relative prosperity. It certainly produced more billionaires. It also produced more poor people in the end. The billionaires still have their money. The poor people still don't.

The economy was not so much the result of Clinton's policies as Greenspan's policies. Happy days were here again. But not for everyone.

11. I'm no billionaire - but I saw lots of local jobs and real hope
We were even surviving the burst bubble in the tech sector, then * and Darth Vader started talking down the economy so they could take credit for an upturn later. Cynical, but Wall Street cooperated.

Yes, Greenspan cooperated with Clinton. Would he if Bill & HRC had been vindictive? I think not.

12. What really caught my eye in this?
Bill Clinton delayed his brother-in-law's wedding 90 minutes so he could finish his game of golf.
