With Every Syllable out of His Mouth
With Every Syllable out of His Mouth
By David Glenn Cox

Will George Bush attack Iran? "I would call that empty propaganda," Bush said. "Evidently, there's a lot of gossip in the parts of the country - world that try to scare people about me personally or my country or what we stand for. And that kind of gossip is just what it is. It's gossip. It's baseless gossip."

January 29,2002- George Bush named three countries that he said continue to sponsor terror: North Korea, Iran and Iraq. He called them and their terrorist allies "an axis of evil," and said the price of indifference to them would be "catastrophic." He also warned that the country cannot afford to delay in further responding to the terrorist threat. "Time is not on our side," he said. "I will not wait on events, while dangers gather. I will not stand by, as peril draws closer and closer."

June 1, 2002 George Bush says the following to the graduating class at West Point
"Containment is not possible when unbalanced dictators with weapons of mass destruction can deliver those weapons on missiles or secretly provide them to terrorist allies....

June 2, 2003 George Bush tells the G-8 Summit about Iran's covert nuclear weapons program, stating that "we will not ignore proliferation implications of Iran's advanced nuclear program"

June 2003 the National Security Council develops several drafts of a new presidential directive on Iran awaiting only his signature on the draft of his choice.

On February 12, 2004 the Senate passed an important resolution, S. Res. 304, that was submitted by Senator Brownback. Denouncing the Iranian elections as “harmful for true democratic forces in Iran, the resolution stated that the policy of the United States should be to advocate a democratic government in Iran that will restore freedom to the people of Iran, abandon terrorism, protect human rights, and live in peace and security with the international community.”

May 2004 The house of Representatives passes resolution 398 during a suspension of house rules. The resolution sponsored by Republican Henry Hyde and states the following, the resolution calls upon all state parties to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty--including the United States--to use ``all appropriate means to deter, dissuade, and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.'' It also "calls on the President to use all appropriate means to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons..."

September 30,2004 During the First Presidential Debate John Kerry said, "Iran and North Korea are now more dangerous. Now, whether preemption is ultimately what has to happen, I don't know yet."

On 17 January 2005 President George W. Bush said he would not rule out military action against Iran if that country is not more cooperative over its suspected nuclear weapons

On 19 October 2005 U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice testified before Congress that President George W. Bush has not ruled out military force against Syria and Iran for their suspected complicity in the Iraq insurgency.

On 29 January 2006 President Bush said on CBS's "Face the Nation" program that the world cannot allow Iran to gain nuclear weapons. "Our strategy is to present and hold together a united front to say to the Iranians, 'Your designs to have a nuclear weapon or your desire to have the capability of making a nuclear weapon is unacceptable,'" he said. Bush said precautions over Iran's nuclear program are necessary because Iran has a "non-transparent government" and because the leader of Iran has openly stated his desire to destroy Israel. "I think it's best I just leave it that all options should be on the table, and the last option is the military option.

On 04 February 2006 Senator John McCain said the only thing worse than military action is a nuclear-armed Iran. McCain added that military force is a "totally undesirable option" of last resort.

August 28,2007 George Bush tell the American Legion convention “We will confront this danger before it is too late. ... Shia extremists, backed by Iran, are training Iraqis to carry out attacks on our forces and the Iraqi people.... I will take actions necessary to protect our troops. I have authorized our military commanders in Iraq to confront Tehran's murderous activities."

September 2007 Senator Joe Lieberman proposes amendment 3107 which is a non-binding Senate resolution promoting the use of force against Iran. The document states the following, “to support the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in support of the policy described in paragraph (3) with respect to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies;”

The truly amazing aspect of the Bush administration is not in the way they allow the President to make such ludicrous statements. But in their belief that anyone in the thinking world will take them seriously. After three years of increasing rhetoric and unsubstantiated claims the President looks squarely into the camera and says in affect, Attack Iran? Where did you get that idea?

"I understand the images of my country have been distorted," Bush said. "And I understand people say things about me personally that simply aren't true. And so I appreciate the chance to come and talk to you directly and to talk to your viewers directly about what's in my heart and about the fact that my country is a country of peace."

August 26,2002 George Bush addresses the VFW, "Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction."

August 21, 2006 “Now, look, part of the reason we went into Iraq was -- the main reason we went into Iraq at the time was we thought he had weapons of mass destruction. It turns out he didn't, but he had the capacity to make weapons of mass destruction.”

The US position erodes with every syllable out of his mouth it is impossible for anyone friend or foe alike to take this man or this administration seriously.
