Bush: "I've done more for human rights than any other president".
He said this shortly before the Iraq invasion. I haven't been able to get a good source on it. Anybody else remember this?

1. Poor brain-dead boobie. I think he meant to say "to" , not "for."

4. Remember the quote or the act?
They're both laughable.

7. This appears to come from a New York Daily News calumn
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 08:23 PM by EST
from 2004. Here's the quote, but since the archived column has been moved, I found this reference to it via a poster at about.com.
A little more digging should uncover the whole thing if you are interested.

" I ran across this column from the New York Daily News today as I avoided work and scanned the papers. I thought some here might find it humorous. Here's the money quote:
"Yet George W. Bush tells New Yorker writer Ken Auletta: 'No President has ever done more for human rights than I have.'"

More than Lincoln who signed the Emancipation Proclamation. More than FDR and Truman who helped rid the world of the Nazis. More than Eisenhower and Kennedy who fought the advance of communism in Eastern Europe and Korea.

Uh huh.

I think this one goes on my list of quotes that reveal the altered reality in which George W. Bush resides. It goes there with other classics like:

"We found them."

"...he wouldn't let them in."

"So, what's the difference."..."

There's also an interview of Dr. Rice by Bill Balloon juice on Pox Noise wherein she makes the same case fo little dooby.
If you'd like me to research it a little further, ....?

9. And it appears in a N.Y. Times column by Paul Krugman:
Going For Broke
By PAUL KRUGMAN
Published: January 20, 2004

According to advance reports, George Bush will use tonight's State of the Union speech to portray himself as a visionary leader who stands above the political fray. But that act is losing its effectiveness. Mr. Bush's relentless partisanship has depleted much of the immense good will he enjoyed after 9/11. He is still adored by his base, but he is deeply distrusted by much of the nation.

Mr. Bush may not understand this; indeed, he still seems to think that he's another Lincoln or F.D.R. ''No president has done more for human rights than I have,'' he told Ken Auletta.
(snip/...)
