Why Bush Isn't a Shoo-In (Joe Klein a good read)
Notice that they have gone from asking "How can anyone beat Bush?" to "Isn't a shoo-in". This is a good little article.

http://www.time.com/time/election2004/columnist/klein/article/0,18471,586171,00.html

George W. Bush has spent the past three years packed in political bubble-wrap, sequestered from the realities of the public square. He doesn't read the papers, or so he says. The televisions in the West Wing are tuned to the flag-brandishing filter of Fox News. Bush rarely fields a hostile question—not even, sadly, at press conferences, where he selects his interrogators from a list prepared by staff. All that is about to change.

This primary campaign is the best thing that has happened to the Democratic Party since Bill Clinton. It is reborn and feisty, thanks in large part to the partisan jolt provided by Dean. The leading Democrats are now making strong, sharp arguments against the President's most fateful decisions: the blind rush into an elective war, the economic and legislative tilt toward the wealthy. If recent performances are any guide, the President hasn't developed an adequate response yet. He will have to break free from his cocoon and reacquaint himself with the public, if he hopes to find one.

2. Still trying to find the right balance of meds.

He can either be pumped up on speed, and you get a bring em on speech, or he can be given prozac, and you see him like Monday, looking like somone who has just come off a two and a half day bender.

What you cant do, is have * unmedicated facing the world, because he starts sounding like the post metamorphosed Caligula, at one moment Aries himself, the next Aphrodite. When irritated, things like l'affaire Plame happen, and people like kindly old Helen Thomas gets mugged by the official whitehouse punks.

Boys and girls, we *do* have an impared president. And it aint gonna get better for * before November. That is why I am loathe to lose any Dem candidate from the field yet. Let's decide it on the floor of the convention, and let the remaining candidates not let a day pass where they contrast themselves with King Claudius and Vice President Gertrude.

Eventually he will strip a gear in public, game over.

3. Yes--- do we remember W's famously foul temper?
If they wnted to peg Dean as a hot head watch W after months of pressure and NO VACATION and wait for him to explode on someone. Hell he almost did it to Diane Sawyer.

4. Honest question - Wasn't Joe Klein "Anonymous" - the writer of
Primary Colors?

If so, then watch the former love-fest for "the writer of Primary Colors" turn into cries of "Partisan Hack" and other cries about the liberal media.
