Gee, You’re Stupid
Gee,You’re Stupid
By David Glenn Cox

And lazy and shiftless and conniving and always looking for a way to get out of work. That’s not my opinion but that is the opinion of many leading Republicans, the same opinion that Henry Ford once voiced about his own workers three quarters of a century ago.“The average working man won’t do a good days work if he can get out of it.” Ford was so worried by the riff raff that he employed that he hired spies to work in the factory and planted listening devices in the washrooms.

Of course Ford should know, as a young man he started his first car company with a consortium of bankers money. Ford’s auto had beaten a famous auto racer in Grosse Point Michigan, The bankers wanted young Ford to build a practical car, instead Ford squandered their money tinkering with his own racecar until the company folded. I guess that in Ford’s case, it takes one to know one.

I’ve gotten into the habit of watching / listening to the financial networks and I recommend it to everyone. All Republican all the time, they feel safe enough there to say the things that they wouldn’t dare say anywhere else. I’ve learned so much, not just about them but about me! I never realized how loathsome and troublesome I am to the society as a whole. While discussing the sub prime mortgage assistance program CNBC’s Erin Burnett worried, “Won’t mortgage holders if given assistance just game the system? Will they pay their mortgages if they know they can’t be foreclosed on?”

You see what slime balls we all are? Millions of us just waiting for the opportunity to rip off that innocent unsuspecting mortgage company. Its only the threat of the sheriff that makes us pay our bills at all. Ms. Burnett is a real piece of work, she is pretty poison. A lovely petite brunette that inside her chest beats the black heart of Satan. On the lead paint scandal on Chinese toys Burnett said, “I don’t see what the big deal is, it’s just a little paint.” Take a guess how many children Ms. Burnett has?

On the President’s stimulus package they were discussing the differences between the Senate and House versions when a self proclaimed expert from the Heritage Foundation explained, “The Senate version grants extended unemployment benefits and in our view that just grants more time for workers to not look for a job.” You’re all just bums! Isn’t that what he’s trying to say? Looking for a hand out, for a way to game the system.

Time after time they call us average Americans lazy and stupid, Larry Kudlow on CNBC takes the prize. He believes the proposed rebates should go to upper income earners because they deserve them more than the middle income earners do! “Besides,” he said, “The middle class will just spend it on soap!” I want everyone who reads this to just stop and think about just what he actually is saying about the middle class workers of America. Being two thousand miles away buys him some license with me but I would strongly advise him not to repeat that again in earshot of a middle class worker or he’ll be spending his own rebate check on new teeth.

His attitude is not unusual only a little more vocal than most, Rush says the same sorts of things but he wraps it in his pig in a blanket attempts at humor. Kudlow says it with a genuine disdain; we are the unwashed varlets soiling his purple robes. As I’ve said this is safe territory for them, with no fear of contradiction they can say what they really think about the trolls and slugs who sully their world.

They talk of Italian shoes and ostentatious vacations and even the commercials smack of exclusivity. “You know, when I go to the gym it’s like everyone there knows me and they say like, hi Jill! But when I call my investment manager it’s like I’m a stranger and they don’t even know me!” Poor thing, I can relate, I have the same trouble at Burger King. “I’d like to think that someday maybe my daughter can use my wealth to make the world a better place.” It makes you wonder what it is that he’s doing up to now that makes him feel like his children will have to fix everything when he’s gone! How would that epitaph read? A real asshole, but he left his money to his children to make the world a better place.

Some how it never works out like that though, the tail follows the head, assholes beget assholes. The fortune usually ends up being spent on fast times, bimbos, wild parties and drug rehab centers. Of course when that does happen we are expected to feel sorry for them. Judges and courts systems to show mercy for these poor wayward lambs. Not like the drug-crazed animals that prowl our inner city streets. Lock them up and throw away the key. They could have pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps if they had wanted to. But no, they chose a life of drugs, and crime. Now, I must foot the bill for these miscreants.

What are the two messages that Republicans like to preach! Number one is personal responsibility and number two is its not their fault. When they move industries overseas they explain it can’t be helped. But when inner city children can’t find jobs they lament, why must I pay for their failures? Its globalization, it can’t be helped we must all make adjustments! I’ve adjusted by buying expensive Italian shoes and take ostentatious vacations, heads I win tails you lose.

The Democratic Party for the most part sold their soul to the devil to get elected. They have failed to take principled stands and have forgotten that’s its better to be right and lose than to be wrong and win. The failure to impeach this President is a perfect case in point. A President without a majority in either house of Congress rules over us as a sovereign, the immorality and illegality of his reign isn’t even a part of the political dialog. All candidates’ rubber stamp his actions and tinker in the margins of change.

We couldn’t win they explain, we didn’t have the votes, the Republicans were too strong. It’s a damn good thing Winston Churchill didn’t think like that and Harry Truman didn’t think like that and Martin Luther King didn’t think like that. You never know what you can do until you try. But instead, they’ve triangulated for what they could get by not trying. They could regain the White House and larger margins in Congress but they are blind mariners now, they have a mighty indiaman but can’t see the stars nor read the compass. They could sail the world yet they’ve lost the vision as to where to go.

They belong to the same clubs as the Republicans and wonder why stock prices are falling at fast food restaurants. They wonder why the economy is starting to stall ignorant that a stall is but a prelude to a collapse. That an economy based on debt and selling debt and reselling debt is only as strong as those who must pay the debt. That the gleaming white towers of the American economy are made of sugar cubes and the sky is darkening and its beginning to rain. And Christ almighty, they think we’re stupid!
