Evil is a symptom of an immature species which can be transcended.
Immaturity can have lots of meanings. The raw stupidity of what is almost certainly the great majority of the human race is one.

Granted, this is an arguable point, but the wonderful advice of Jesus Christ that we should judge them by their fruits, certainly seems to be proof positive that our species is sunk in Duhville up to its self pitying neck.

Look at the world. Very little sanity, compassion, and creative intelligence out there, wouldn't you say?

Are there exceptions? Certainly, and Godspeed to them. Glorious art, the manifested, detached intelligence of science, and healing kindnesses. Yes, lots of exceptions, but these are the exceptions that prove the rule, because what is MOSTLY out there are people who just haven't got it that unless you s-t-r-e-c-h your courage and intelligence to explore at the "big picture" of life (and the bigger the better), you will be an enabler of evil (like the enabling wife or husband who refuses to acknowledge that his or her spouse is an abusive drunk).

Well, you know what; our country has an abusive drunk for President. But how many people are willing to de-hypnotize themselves long enough from their 65 IQ sitcoms to passionately acknowledge that fact? Abusive drunk, the 21st Century anti-Christ, the seller of America's soul to resurrected neo-Nazis, a genocidal mass murderer of Muslims -- take your pick. The point is this man is filth incarnate and should be cleaning our commodes, but NEVER be the President of the United States of America.

Yes, but he IS the President, isn't he? Conclusion? He's a symptom of an immature species.

If our species AS A SPECIES rose to the ultimate challenges of life (or at least gave it our best shot), the "human condition" would be 100% different. Evil would be an anachronistic sickness that was transcended by the great majority of the human race, and in time would be totally "selected out" by evolution.

Intelligence "transcends" evil. It's limitlessly vaster, more mysterious, and incomparably more satisfying than evil. The same thing is true for courage. "Cowardice" (e.g., Nancy Pelosi) is it's own punishment. It may buy you a few moments of feeling "one up", but cowards in the race of life are even slower than the tortoise, while the jack rabbit of science, artistic creativity, and real world compassion grow wings of eagles and fly into the emporium.

What do evil, stupidity, sloth, greed, and George Bush all have in common? They're all BORing. Is passionate creativity boring, or love, of a scientific break through, or the coming into form of a gorgeous work of art, or even passionate sex (since the pedophile pugs seem have a kind of anti-matter sex), boring?

It's too simple to say this, but Goodness and Intelligence are the cutting edge of human evolution, but Evil and Stupidity are the footprints of our reptilian (Freud called it the Id) ancestry.

The fascist/elites are where we WERE. The "echo" of the last 6,000 years may be deafening, but it's only an echo.

Where we ARE is a "tipping point", a critical mass moment, an intelligence quantum jump. What makes this difficult to accept is that it's a species quantum jump because ONLY AS A SPECIES can this evil, vampire elite, neo-Nazi filth, Bush insanity be transcended.

This is OUR Holy Grail. The 12th Century had theirs. Ours is to transcend an immature species – and the act of faith of this writer is that the great majority of the transcendence is already behind us. Ripeness is all.

ps: Speculation: Could it be that the last piece our species needed was the Internet (and blessing upon it)? I once had a response to a similar suggestion by a reader who said that his Sufi Master told him computers were eventually going to become spiritual. Wow, that’s a big, big thought, isn’t it? And if I were Las Vegas, you can bet I would always put my money on the views of a Sufi Master.

1. Watch "Idiocracy" from Mike Judge.
for a look at the future. I saw this movie a couple of months ago and cannot get it out of my head. The premise is that since ignorant people have more children we are losing the ability to breed smart people. Evolution does not favor intelligence only the ability to perpetuate the species. Funniest thing I have seen in a long time.

2. Evil Is the Result of a Dying Civilization
When resources, opportunities, hope and progress are all gone, it's one big fight for whatever is left. There's no cooperation, no planning, no altruism, family means little or nothing, and the center does not hold.

And George Bush and the fascists that support him destroyed all those resources, opportunities, hopes and advances---INTENTIONALLY!

These people who had more than they could ever use, more than they deserved, decided to turn to a life of crime to get even more.

How sick is that?

3. When we transcend evil
then very bad becomes the new evil and exquisite goodness becomes the new good.

When we transcend the new evil, then just averagely bad becomes the even newer evil and hyper-exquisite goodness becomes the new good.
I don't think that's gonna work.

How about we drop the western obsession with the false structue of dichotomy and the compulsion to label, instead?

Just a thought.

And as for intelligence and "Idiocracy" - You are about 10% less intelligent than your children. Due to something called "The Flynn Effect" standards for IQ tests are "renormalized" upward by an average of 10 points every 10 years.

Let's look at "renormalization" and the ramifications as a measure of a normal person's intelligence (for example a guy with a 100 IQ - so let's call him Average Joe). When Average Joe hits college, a random child who is just being born will test out in comparison to Joe at 120 points (or read another way, Joe's IQ is now 80, he's subnormal). They both score 100, but for each the measuring stick has been changed, in much the same way it changes when we transcend evil. And then transcend evil yet again.

Is Joe now borderline retarded? No, I'm simply suggesting that labels and definitions can't possibly begin to describe the complexity of experience. So, if there is an Idiocracy, it is us. We are limited by labels and the need to define things as evil (or good) with all the hubris of moral superiority that implies.

How about we concentrate on just being averagely good, rather than talking about transcendence? We limit ourselves by definition. We expand ourselves beyond definition if we could learn to simply be.
