Thanks for the positive feedback on this one. I wish Barack would actually use this comeback.

6. Obama Pure as the Driven Snow, NOT |

Obama quoted on the Iraq War, the day before the 2004 Democratic National Committee: "There's not that much difference between my position and George Bush's position at this stage." http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Barack_Obama:_U.S._presidential_election%2C_2008/On_the_war_in_Iraq

7. With all due respect ... |
|
With all due respect, I think you're overlooking a key distinction: "at this stage," in 2004, more than a year after the invasion, the damage had been done, and nobody was seriously advocating an immediate pullout -- after all, "we broke it, we owned it."
But when Hillary, arguably or at least potentially one of the most influential Senators, gave Bush the actual authority to invade, that was the ultimate in profiles in cowardice.
Just imagine how much weight and influence she could have yielded if she took the position of many of her Democratic Senate colleagues, and the majority of House Democrats -- and just said "NO."
It would have carried the weight of Bill Clinton as well, and might have galvanized a more robust opposition.
