No health care, no Freedom.
We Are Not Free
Health Care as a Human Right

By HELEN REDMOND

At the core of the idea that health care is a human right is freedom. The for-profit health care system in the United States severely restricts our freedom in a number of subtle and not so subtle ways. Instead of freedom there is fear.

The health care crisis impacts every aspect of our lives down to the most seemingly insignificant personal decisions we make. This national bully terrorizes and forces us to live in fear. It determines what is possible and not possible, it crushes hopes and dreams and imprisons people into lives they did not choose. For decades in this country we have accepted the barbaric consequences of a profit driven health care system that bullies and denies us basic freedoms. Therefore, we are not free.

How does the bully do this? Let me count the ways. (Continued at:

1. During the Clinton years we thought we had no enemies

(although some of us knew this wasn't true since it always is a dangerous world). Now they spread fear everyday. Everyone is our enemy (except the illusion that Britain and Israel aren't).

OR was that an illusion (like Monica and Linda Tripp to hide the smoke screen of real treason under NAFTA) so they could cut back our bases and military? When you look back on it all...the dots connect to a drive to remove our democracy one piece at a time. Under Bush it was a full gallop.

In just eight years we are in debt (our treasury rapped) for generations and our economy in the dumps. We have bases all over the world but not the troops or funds to pay for them. We are in a mess not seen since our founding. This is modern times not the world of King George or is it?

Holidays are very much ruined on purpose. Don't let the people lose their fear or have a good time. Boooo!

President Bush is the opposite of President Roosevelt regarding fear. He's no leader but seems to be our enemy. When I hear any politician talking about something as undefined as "terrorists" I put them in my "full of bull column".

We send money all over the world but can't care for our own. Our own die in the flood waters and streets. We die on foreign soil for foreign countries not our own. Our military without proper care and therepy. Israelis have National Health Care but we don't. Why is that?

A Vet I know has problems with his knees. He is now confined to a wheel chair (he and his wife very active, dancing, entertaining, traveling, etc.) when an operation would solve his problems. Nope the VA won't allow it.

But VP Cheney has his own medical staff and Blackhawk follow him around. He is costing the tax payer a pretty penny you can bet on that.

We spend money on space programs trips to Mars and Venus...oh there might be life there!! The space program is full of illusion and story telling. I sometimes wonder it they happen at all. What good is it except for unmanned satellites above our planet? Even that is becoming littered and they are falling out of space with dangerous chemicals on them. I don't trust a thing coming out of Bush's space programs. It is for space weapons and dangerous programs (such as HARP).

I agree...we have a right to good health care. The money is there in DC but the will is not. They have theirs but we don't have ours and we pay for it all.

2. You're right. They want us afraid.
And about this: that the money is there, but the will is not.

5. what crap

One must relocate and work oneself to death just to attain what is a fundamental right?

Bullshit.

Btw, education is a fundamental right too, though in the good old US of A education is mostly about instilling conditioning and class difference.

6. You are right but that's what I had to do.
They care little about the citizens of this country trying to get an education. They have "theirs".

Relocation not available or no colleges in your area?
