Posted February 23, 2008

Two days ago (Feb 21, 2008) Scheuer, former head of the CIA’s Bin Laden unit, appeared on Fox News and suggested that Ron Paul and maybe Dennis Kucinich are the only presidential candidates that understand the real causes of terror and proposed the only foriegn policies that address the real causes of terror...

Scheuer states, “I think both of them (McCain and Obama) are equally unable to cope with the threat represented by Osama bin Laden, al Qaeda, and the Islamists,” Sheuer responded. “They really don’t have a clue about what this war is about.”...

“What they hate us for is the unusually virulent strain of obsessive compulsive disorder that’s present in the American governing class, and that’s called interventionism. That’s what the cause of this war is. And neither Mr. McCain, nor Mr. Obama, nor Mrs. Clinton, nor any of the rest of them who are in the campaign—except Mr. Paul, Mr. Kucinich perhaps—had that idea.”...

According to Scheuer, “If anyone is marching to the drum of Al-Qaeda, it is certainly the United States Government.”...

1. “They really don’t have a clue about what this war is about.”
He may be right but most of us here at DU understand as do 90% of the rest of the world.

2. Yes, most people align themselves with Kucinich when taking the test...
He's not a flaming liberal, he's where most of America would like to be... Too bad M$M picked our candidates again.

3. "Obsessive-compulsive interventionism" hits the naIl on the head.
It's the "master race" syndrome (although it may be more 'cultural' than 'racial' these days) and seems to be typically 'anglo-saxon' now.

It's a big reason why I exiled myself from the UK. Spanish people don't think like that; haven't done so for centuries now.

The sense of a constant need to sell or impose a particular cultural perspective and its requirements on the rest of the world (often couched in terms of 'defense'), as expressed through constant media bombardment, is actually driving the US-UK collectively insane, IMO.
