Business group seeks more visas for high-tech workers
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - 3:34 PM MST

A business coalition -- whose members include Microsoft Corp., Google Inc. Motorola Inc. Intel Corp., Coca-Cola Co. and Boeing Co. -- wants Congress to increase the number of work visas for high-tech workers and avoid a hard-line approach to the immigration issue.

Compete America has written U.S. House leaders advocating for more H-1B visas. U.S. corporations (including the technology ones in Compete America) use the visa program to bring in foreign workers for skilled and technical jobs. The group wants Congress to increase current caps on the visa program.

The current federal cap for H-1Bs stands at 65,000 annually and the queue for those work permits fills up immediately each year.

Compete America and other corporate advocates say they need skilled foreign workers to fill jobs in the U.S.

Critics say the corporations use the H-1B program to fill skilled jobs with cheaper foreign labor.

1. ``Corps Want More Cheap-Ass Labor.``
OK. We know that.

But the question is, will Democrats acquiesce to the Republican led campaign for this type of profit maximization?

Or, will they finally decide that enough is enough and that we must preserve American jobs?

For too long the Dems have succumbed to every whim that the Pukes have demanded. Now, it's time for a change.

2. I Agree...
The Dems have kissed ass long enough. If they fail to address "We the People".....then I'll bet that a third party will form shortly thereafter.

I hear all too often that most citizens are disgusted with both parties.
