Dear Obamaniacs and Clintonistas

Why, you’d almost think this election actually means something

Dear Obamaniacs and Clintonistas:

Shut the f*ck up. Or, as the inestimable Wolcott puts it, spare me the rhetorical emo.

Your choice for president is going to either (a) win or (b) lose. And life in the United States will go on, albeit with higher gas prices, higher oil costs, more housing foreclosures, lower real estate prices, a lower dollar, and fewer jobs.

There will be no universal healthcare.

There will be no comprehensive integrated national mass transit system.

There will be no comprehensive integrated energy policy incorporating fossil-based and renewable energy sources.

There will be no comprehensive integrated employment and job training programs.

There will be no comprehensive integrated immigration policy.

There will be no revisions to NAFTA.

There will be no ratification of the Kyoto Protocol.

There will be no signing (re-signing, actually) of the International Criminal Court treaty.

There will be no capture and prosecution of Osama bin Laden.

There will be no closing down of Gitmo, unless the Cuban government (Castro or post-Castro) finally breaks the US lease of Guantanamo.

There will be no quick end to the illegal US occupation of Iraq.

And I’m a reasonably optimistic person!

I say all this because it’s going to take a lot more work and a lot more effort than just electing Clinton or Obama to achieve these things -- and most of you people are already exhausted just from insulting each other’s candidate.

Wusses.

2. I loved the "rhetorical emo" link!
It's a good post, too. Thanks!

At least once a day I try to post this -- I'm a Democrat, I'm voting Democratic, and I'm in this for the long haul. The choice between Hillary and Obama may be important, but the work we all do is the real job.

Being "emo" is best saved for therapy.

9. And this post isn't? I'm more of an optimist;
what might be accomplished? I've been reading about what hasn't been done for 8 years and I'm really tired of it.

4. actually, there will be more jobs for CRONIES on both sides
There will be lots and LOTS of *study groups* set up to look at the problems, filled with political cronies on BOTH sides. Jobs paid for with the tax money that should be going into programs to correct the problem. And the STUDY GROUPS will have full health care, probably leased vehicles with gas cards (all on the backs of the taxpayers) - and I'm sure there will also be world travel trips available for these leech..err, Study groups, so they might be able to figure out, perhaps within the next eight years -- just where to START fixing the economy.

There will be no holding BushCo accountable for their crimes against the Constitution, against U.S. and international law, and against humanity.

which means that future presidents -- including the one elected in November -- will be free to do the same with no fear of being brought to justice . . .

10. The energy we put into the Presidential campaign -- if invested wisely will move
our fellow citizens to push whoever gets elected to do the right thing -- quickly, very quickly.

When I cast my vote, I'll be voting for you Miss Authoritiva -- I'll be voting for me -- I'll be voting for us all to have 8 solid years of hard work ahead of us creating and participating in a variety of activist communities.

11. Forgot your meds right? Got up on the wrong side of the bed and hit the wall?
Out of milk and you want your sugar snaps? You put your shoes on backward? What is it then? If your panties are in a wad just step out of them. There doesn't that feel better?

19. Yep, truth does indeed hurt.
And that's even IF the Powers That Be ALLOW (yes, ALLOW) a Democrat to sit on the Imperial Throne.

Something I have my extreme doubts about.

NOTE: Please don't misconstrue me. I am not suggesting people not vote. I will be voting in November for the Democratic Nominee. I just don't have any illusions about what country I live in, and that it is roughly similar, especially when you strip away the bullshit window-dressing to Putin's Russia or Communist China.

15. I hope you're wrong, but
I think you may be right.

We won the Congress back in 2006 as a mandate to end the war. How's that going...? We've surged !

Unless we get a bullet proof (aka overwhelming) majority in the House and Senate this year, our President Democrat is going to be just as helpless....and hopeless.

17. Well, you know...
...any kind of change has to start somewhere.

You may have noticed that even the reTHUGs didn't get their "Hit on America" accomplished in one election, just the beginnings of it, and they metastasized from there.

We have a hell of a lot of damage to try to undo before we can get a lot of positive stuff done, but you can't expect any results without taking those first steps.

The more people who share the positive vision and get involved, the faster progress will be made.

Saying something can't or won't be done gets nothing accomplished.

I choose hope.
I choose the future.
I choose positive action.

GObama! _Dare to Dream_

The longest journey begins with the first step.

20. Amen.
It's going to be a long process. Don't get impatient when you don't necessarily see results in the first year.
