April 3, 2008 from boston.com

"AN ALARMING number of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supporters are telling pollsters they won't support the Democratic ticket if their candidate doesn't win the party's nomination. This, my friends, could mean four more years of Bushist backwardness.

Look before you jump. Democrats thinking of voting for John McCain should ask themselves if they want a hot-tempered, right-wing Republican in the White House - keeping his foot on the gas in Iraq, sentencing women to illegal abortions, and pouring cement around President Bush's tax cuts for the rich."

1. I don't get the "I'm going to hold my breath" tactic
does allowing the Republican to win really make people feel better about not voting for _______ because he/she is "too corporate" (or whatever)?

It's like beating yourself up because you're afraid you may get mugged.

2. it's forgetting what we should have learned in 2000
and 2004. It's great that "I" have a preferred candidate, but what we need is a preferred outcome. I'm feeling better with my new resolve!

GO DEMS!!

5. Here's your fifth rec
I think EVERYBODY needs to read this. I have worried about all the whining and crying. "If MY CANDIDATE doesn't take the nomination, I'm going to (a) pout, (b) stay home in November, or (c) totally jump the shark and vote for McCain. Harrumph."

We can't afford ANY of these activities. Too much is at stake. We need a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, a house majority that can move legislation forward, and a DEMOCRAT IN THE WHITE HOUSE. Remember the Supreme Court, folks. I was around before Roe v. Wade, and I don't want to go back there.

7. this may be crass
but this message goes out to anyone who will not vote Democrat if Clinton is the nominee and anyone who will not vote Democrat if Obama is the nominee. Fuck you. You are part of the problem. You will help to give us four more years of shitty Republican rule.

9. Eloquently put
I agree.
I'd like to leave an impression from my Hunter S Thompson get out the vote
meat hammer on anyone who would see the country flushed because their fave lost the primary.
I believe much of this sentiment is planted by our enemies.
We need every f*cking vote on the line.
In my view anyone who sits this out is Republican Collaborator.

10. Vote Nader!
:sarcasm:

Seriously - people have to step back just a little bit from the brink. We'll have ONE candidate by June, never fear.

11. Thanks for all the Rec's!
Dan Payne, what a guy.

I'm aware that I was being swayed by public opinion and the media, it has to be kept out front that McCain was held up for dead by the same 'public' and 'media' just short months ago, and that he's just a bear hug away from being part of the * dynasty.
