On Guard, or AWOL?
I hope this link works, if not I may have to copy the whole thing and risk the wrath of the Mod-Gods....it's such a great piece, really rebuts most of the bs coming out of the White House these days and puts Bill Calhoun in his place. If you can't read it from the link go to the Memphis Flyer web site and look for the title in the subject line.

2. But he flew fighters!
But, he flew fighters over Texas, protecting the United States from Mexico!

Yeah, that certainly compares to John Kerry or McCain fighting a bloody war in Vietnam.

Let me see, how many medals and citations do Kerry and McCain have (even though McCain is GOP, he still gets my respect)? Now, how many did Bush get for his service(if you can call it that) in T.A.N.G. ?

Ah yes, T.A.N.G. (the Texas Air National Guard). Doesn't TANG sometimes leave a bad aftertaste?

It's fake orange juice, just like..... Oh well, never mind.

3. The F-102 and F-106 were radar guided interceptors not fighters
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 03:47 PM by Mountainman
Bush was not a fighter pilot. The F-102 was not a fighter or air combat aircraft like the F-100 or F-86.

CONVAIR F-102A "DELTA DAGGER"

The primary mission of the F-102 was to intercept and destroy enemy aircraft. It was the world's first supersonic all-weather jet interceptor and the USAF's first operational delta-wing aircraft. The F-102 made its initial flight on Oct. 24, 1953 and became operational with the Air Defense Command in 1956. At the peak of deployment in the late 1950's, F-102s equipped more than 25 ADC squadrons. Convair built 1,101 F-102s, 975 of which were F-102As. The USAF also bought 111 TF-102s as combat trainers with side-by-side seating.

In a wartime situation, after electronic equipment on board the F-102 had located the enemy aircraft, the F-102's radar would guide it into position for attack. At the proper moment, the electronic fire control system would automatically fire the F-102's air-to-air rockets and missiles.

4. Yeah, I know.
Yeah, I know. Bush stated "I flew fighters" during his "Meet the Press" interview.

I doubt he knows enough to make shit fly, much less a fighter.
