Venezuela Remembers April 13
Source: Prensa latina

Caracas, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) Celebrations on the anniversary of the rescue of constitutionality in Venezuela after the coup against President Hugo Chavez six years ago will conclude with a popular mobilization Sunday, convoked at the same place where the main deeds occured then.

This will be part of a wide activity program, and the Palace of Miraflores, host of the Venezuelan Executive, and adjacent streets will be places of concentration for the people.

For Chavez, social movements were the real protagonists of the actions that beat the coupists.

The Bravo Pueblo Week, called that way for the objective of the activities, included the making of the International Peace Conference and an exchange of intellectuals and artists in defense of mankind.

3. That radio station that was banned participated in the coup
The radio station provoked people into uprising. They were cheering for the new coupist man. No wonder they got their license revoked.

4. "...social movements were the real protagonists..."--in stopping the coup, and in
so much else--electing Chavez in the first place, overcoming U.S.-backed destabilization efforts and gross political interference (as in the oil professionals' strike that nearly crippled the country, and the USAID-NED-funded recall election), and re-electing Chavez (with 63% of the vote) in 2006, as well as in electing leaders committed to social justice in Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Nicaragua, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay (and, hopefully, next month, in Paraguay).

This is THE story in South America--it is about THE PEOPLE, who are transforming the continent. The global corporate predator 'news' is way off-focus dwelling so much of Chavez, and then trying to kill off this social movement by demonizing him. It isn't going to die--because it is very deep, and very widespread. It is the vast poor population of South America--brutalized recently by US-dominated "free trade" and the World Bank/IMF, and for decades and centuries by US-backed fascist regimes--finally coming into their own as a political force, at long last.

5. To quote Martin Luther King, Jr.:
"Social justice begins with economic justice." Or something to that effect, anyways.
