US Knew Saddam Was Going To Attack Kuwait: Book
US Knew Saddam Was Going To Attack Kuwait: Book
Monday 14th of April 2008
The US had prior knowledge about Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein attacking Kuwait in 1990 but did nothing to stop him, says a former Indian diplomat in a new book.

In his book 'The Ultimate Prize: Oil and Saddam's Iraq' (Allied Publishers), Ranjit Singh Kalha, former ambassador to Iraq, quotes the US envoy in Baghdad April Glaspie as telling Saddam on July 25, 1990: 'We have no opinion on Arab-Arab conflict, like your border disagreement with Kuwait.'

This was barely a week before Iraq invaded Kuwait on Aug 2, 1990.

The US envoy also told the Iraqi president, 'We hope you can solve this problem using any suitable methods... All that we hope is that these issues are solved quickly.'

Kalha, who retired as secretary in the ministry of external affairs in 2002 and was in Iraq around the time, notes in his book that is replete with unclassified documents: 'If Saddam had any lingering doubts about the attitude of the US, these were soon cleared.'

Oscar Wyatt pointed this out and is sitting in prison. Most by the way who were aware of it at the time realize now that Bush was hoping Saudi Arabia would turn the other way which of course would give "us" control of the Kuwaiti fields and of course then, as now, the game plan was to then gain control of the Iranian fields. If Saudi Arabia hadn't objected, Bush no doubt would have urged Saddam Hussein into declaring war on Iran again. Saddam Hussein of course turned on Bush. What did Bush think he would do? Roll over and play dead and sign whatever oil law Bush wanted signed? The same oil law "Junior" wants signed?

Very evil family. And again you have the adopted children the Clintons.

5. "The fact is that the Bush administration was engaged in an effort to subsidize and arm Saddam
Hussein right up to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, and the CIA was totally aware of these efforts."
excerpt from former CIA analyst Melvin A. Goodman's "Failure of Intelligence: The Decline and Fall of the CIA"

maddezmom, that Melvin Goodman excerpt came from this very, very deep article posted by Robert Parry 4-8-2008 at Consortium News

"Losing the War for Reality"
