The Debate: A Shameful Night for the U.S. Media
The Debate: A Shameful Night for the U.S. Media
In perhaps the most embarrassing performance by the media in a major presidential debate in years, ABC News hosts Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous focused mainly on trivial issues as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama faced off in Philadelphia. They, and their network, should hang their collective heads in shame.

Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the health care and mortgage crises, the overall state of the economy and dozens of other pressing issues had to wait for their few moments in the sun as Obama was pressed to explain his recent "bitter" gaffe and relationship with Rev. Wright (seemingly a dead issue) and not wearing a flag pin -- while Clinton had to answer again for her Bosnia trip exaggerations.

Then it was back to Obama to defend his slim association with a former '60s radical -- a question that came out of rightwing talk radio and Sean Hannity on TV, but was delivered by former Bill Clinton aide Stephanopolous. This approach led to a claim that Clinton's husband pardoned two other '60s radicals. And so on. The travesty continued.

More time was spent on all of this than segments on getting out of Iraq and keeping people from losing their homes and -- you name it. Gibson only got excited complaining that someone might raise his capital gains tax...

3. A complete ambush on Obama
and they weren't much fairer to Clinton. The only thing we all learned was that Charlie Gibson, the "objective" moderator, is personally against raising the capital gains tax. Gee thanks Charlie but no one asked you your opinion, you fucking asswipe!

Aww, come on, fellas. You're gonna win the nomination. You might let us have something. No? Then have the lousy night you earned.

I suppose you were ecstatic when they asked Hillary about her sniper fantasy which, by the way, I was really annoyed at them for re-hashing that garbage too. But what else do you expect from millionaire "journalists" who HAVE NO IDEA about losing a home to foreclosure or losing a family member in Iraq..care to join their, dare I say..elitist ranks? By the way THE AUDIENCE BOOED THEM. Everyone pretty much realizes that the MSM has become irrelevant. Unfortunately for Hillary she did not have the foresight to take into account that THE GRASSROOTS WOULD BE MOBILIZED BY THE INTERNET NOT THE MSM. Obama did, and that's why he's winning.

9. I feel compelled to point out that EVERY night is a shameful night for our Toady Media.
Every...single...one!

I mean our media is so thoroughly debased, particularly our Cable TYV "News" Media, that I would happily trade it, lock, stock and barrel for the entire State-Controlled Chinese Media.

Why? A few reasons. First, virtually all our Cable Punditocracy DESERVES to be enslaved by the Chinese Communists because they have enabled totalitarianism here THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO LIVE UNDER IT.

Second, could the Chinese Media be WORSE than ours? I think not. The only thing they lack is celebrity news and hot blonde anchors.

Third, it might even be possible that the Chinese journalists, who from a lifetime of living under Bushevism-Chinese-style (Amerika and China now have the same form of government if you strip away the bullshit and window-dressing) would appreciate their relative freedom so much that they might try to practice ACTUAL JOURNALISM.

Conversely, our own Toady Media would have to change NOTHING, not one thing, of their toadying matter to fit in as mouthpieces for the ChiComs, so they'd be a great fit over there.

In any case, our media is broken from top to bottom. It is not worth Edward R. Murrow's testicular sweat. Personally, I think it is guilty collective of crimes against humanity inthe same way Julius Streicher and the Nazi Media was.

Every night is a shameful night for our Toady Media. Every single one.

11. OMG. can he be so stupid, so immersed in his own moronic liqueur
that he actually believes that nonsense?

Or is he just playing defense for his fellow members in the rich Boys Club?

In either case, what a fucking disgrace of a human being. What a disgrace to the entire nation our media has become!

15. ABC deserves an outpouring of outrage.
Obama supporters should use their steam in rising up to those who are driven by the 'thugs. I know they have the steam; I saw this morning that the Political Videos forum has been swamped with anti-Hillary videos, probably seen only by those here who have genuine hatred for her, including those who check in to gather ammunition. Instead of using your high energy to preach to the choir, direct it at those who want to insure that a 'thug continues to run this country. Please.
