Three quick points on the Democratic debate tonight:
First, Democrats, and especially Obama supporters, are going to jump all over ABC for the choice of topics: too many gaffe questions, not enough policy questions.

Second, Obama and Clinton were completely irresponsible. As the first President Bush discovered, it is simply irresponsible statesmanship (and stupid politics) to make blanket pledges to win votes. Both candidates did that on vital issues.

The third point concerns electability. The Democrats have a problem. All the signs point to a big Democratic year, and I still wouldn’t bet against Obama winning the White House, but his background as a Hyde Park liberal is going to continue to dog him. No issue is crushing on its own, but it all adds up. For the life of me I can’t figure out why he didn’t have better answers on Wright and on the “bitter” comments. The superdelegates cannot have been comforted by his performance.

Final grades:
ABC: A
Clinton: B
Obama: D+

1. Aside from the boos for Charlie, it was the most boring debate in the history of all debates.
No real questions about the economy, the war, the miserable condition of the American middle class and poor, jobs, bailouts for Bear Stearns, impeachment, prosecution of torturers. Now, those questions would have been interesting. Instead we got, he said and Charlie says. Hell Charlie was even debating Obama with right wing talking points.

I don't care what Charlie thinks, I want to hear what Obama and Hillary think.

Just boring, boring, boring and dull.

I will never watch ABC news again, if I can avoid it.

2. I want to make sure I have this right: Obama sucked last night and couldn't defend his recent
WORDS or actions on a variety of topics, so it's the NETWORK's fault...

got it.

If they kiss his ass and feet, and sing songs of praise to the "saint", then all is well.

got it.

4. I don't believe they need to kiss his ass, but take that ludicrous question of wearing a flag lapel,
that sounded like something out of the Soviet Union to me, I don't give a rat's ass, but one thing I did notice they didn't ask Hillary Clinton that question and she wasn't wearing one. So why did they single out Obama implying he was being unpatriotic for not wearing a lapel pin?

3. Brooks may have given ABC an "a".......
But then his dentist is the one out of five who recommends chewing sugared gum.

What were we to expect?
