Gas May soon cost a Sawbuck ($10./gal)
more: http://www.nysun.com/news/business/gas-price-may-soon-cost-sawbuck

Get ready for another economic shock of major proportions — a virtual doubling of prices at the gas pump to as much as $10 a gallon.

AP/Reed SaxonClick to enlarge>A customer pumps gas in Los Angeles, where self-serve regular gasoline exceeds 4 dollars a gallon. That’s the message from a couple of analytical energy industry trackers, both of whom, based on the surging oil prices, see considerably more pain at the pump than most drivers realize.

Gasoline nationally is in an accelerated upswing, having jumped to $3.58 a gallon from $3.50 in just the past week. In some parts of the country, including New York City and the West Coast, gas is already sporting a price tag above $4 a gallon. There was a pray-in at a Chevron station in San Francisco on Friday led by a minister asking God for cheaper gas, and an Arco gas station in San Mateo, Calif., has already raised its price to a sky-high $4.62.

6. weak currency
Well, when you consider that the doubling of oil prices has happened concurrently with the halving of the value of our currency, I guess you could say that we really haven't seen any price increases yet. The combination of devaluation and peak oil will be devastating for us.

9. A pray-in at a gas station....
I wish I'd been around to see their imaginary friend magically reducing gas prices.

Ain't it funny how so many of these devout religionists drive giant SUV's, then they have the nerve to complain about the price of gas. Nothing to do with their lifestyles, obviously....

10. as long as people keep driving big-ass SUVs and going 80 mph and refusing to
conserve, gas will keep going up.

this is about my third or fourth gas crisis. i was just learning to drive when they were closing gas stations on sunday, back around 1974. i remember when it crossed the $1.00 threshold.

i also remember when people tried to conserve. and as long as we, as a nation, refuse to conserve, as long as we keep buying gas-guzzlers, rather than sensible economy cars, and as long as we don't stay at home more, then gas will continue to go up until they bleed us dry.

i remember in the late 1970s, people were throwing bricks through service station windows in protest. now the oil companies have their spinmeisters on every network. seems to have worked, too, as the snot eaters are blaming environmentalists rather than the bastards who run oil companies.

ultimately, we have the power to control gas prices. and until we exert that control, we will continue getting screwed like this.

13. "IF" gas ever reaches $10.00/gal that will be the least of our problems
Life in the good ol USA as we know it will vanish. When it becomes more exspensive to drive to your place of employment then you make there, what do you think the outcome will be?
