A very slow and quiet little uprising
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 12:15 PM by underpants
I use the word "uprising" instead of "revolution " as a nod to David Sarota (his new book)

Think about what has happened in the last 4 years

We have the former VP candidate and one of the most powerful Senators actually lose his states primary. Lieberman, of course, went on to win the election but Lamont's win was the first huge salvo from "the people" for change, and in Connecticut no less- not exactly a hotbed of radicalism.

The 2006 election was unprecedented on several levels
1. The main issue or cause for voting decisions in every single exit poll was something that was completely ignored before and after this election….corruption.
2. The DNC was willing to accept candidates that many in the party and all the “experts” dismissed as a possibility and they won. Jim Webb stands out because the Virginia Dems were willing to accept him over a long-time party activist and fundraiser and that was the only reason we were still able to take advantage of the “Macaca moment” and oust the soon-to-be Republican Presidential nominee (George Allen).
3. Lastly we have a first term Senator who comes out of nowhere two years prior to speak at the Dem convention and then to beat the “inevitable” nominee and legacy of the supposedly unmatchable machine in the party. Obama is a wake-up call to DC but they are all clearly not listening as they are preoccupied with keeping the castle walls secure. In doing so they are feeding the negative energy that has created the last 4 years.

On the right you can even throw in the Minute Men who rejected the normal role of Republicans which is to blindly accept what their hierarchy tells them as they demanded action on an issue that should have fit right into the perpetually unresolved abortion-guns-gays wedge playbook. They NEVER saw that coming.

Quite remarkable.

1. I would not even say it's the DNC since Howard Dean is on that--it's corporate types
behind the party gradually being squeezed out.
