Who should Barack Obama pick as his running mate.
I think Artur Davis from Alabama would make a good VP. Of course me being from Alabama I might be bias.

1.  Brian Schweitzer or Russ Feingold.
Personally I'd love to see Barbara Boxer on the ticket, but I recognize the significant drawbacks.

2. Not likely.
I like Artur Davis. He is a very smart guy and an excellent speaker. I think he should run for the Senate or Governor in 2010.

4. He seems like a nice guy
I know it is most politicians job to act that way, but when I met him he just seemed real. Not phony.

5. He is a lot like Obama.
Both excelled at Harvard Law and chose to go into civil rights law instead of going after the big bucks. Maybe he could be Attorney General.

8. I say progressives should INSIST it be someone who NEVER supported the Iraq War Resolution, & I ...
also definitely think that, all other things being equal, it really makes sense this year in lots of ways, to have a woman on the ticket. If McCain picks a woman to run (shrewd move) it could motivate many women to vote for him. If Obama has a woman on the ticket (NOT Hillary) it will energize large constituencies otherwise less that fired up now.

My favorite is CA Sen Barbara Boxer, for reasons I have repeated over and over -- lots of foreign policy and general experience, very capable (about as qualified as anyone) and voted NO on IWR, is very attractive politician and could help with a number of swing constituencies (eg suburban women) and could help carry Florida.

But Sebelius, (and though someone trashed her as a "laughable" suggestion) Stabenow, or some others would be great. Stabenow voted no on IWR, and Sebelius never supported it. I don't know where Napolitano was, as along as she didn't come out in FAVOR of it, undercutting one of Obama's STRONGEST calling cards, especially in today's politics.

It's the American way -- if you've GOT it, flaunt it!

10. whomever he wants to govern with
I don't think it should be another democratic senator. We need to build up that majority more than ever to overcome the GOP obstructionists.

11. Whoever would be the strongest candidate
to go forward 8 years beyond his 8 years, who would lend domestic and foreign affairs experience to the ticket, and someone who would be just as liberal or more so than Obama.

Bobby Kennedy and Al Gore are both at the top of my list.
