Well, that didn’t take long: Just a week after former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt and 14 other hostages were rescued from their FARC captors by Colombian forces, plans are in the works to make a movie version of the story, with Simon Brand on board to direct the drama.

The Hollywood Reporter:

Colombian filmmaker Simon Brand, whose credits include “Unknown” and Colombia’s highest-grossing movie “Paradise Travel,” is working with the producers to develop and direct the project, which has no writer on board yet. The producers are also looking to meet with financiers and studios in the coming weeks.

1. I'da thunk it would be more appropriate
if the film was a Disney production - just another fairy tale.

2. is that the story about where ronnie reagan runs into iran seconds before
he is sworn in as president and spirits all the hostages to safety just in time to finish his swearing in by saying "i do"?? that one?

or is it the story about bushy back in college when someone threatened to empty out a kegger on a monday morning and georgie ran in guzzled/rescued a couple gallons of skunked brew by gulping it down in two swigs. that hostage rescue?

or the one where bush rescued all that coke off the table at a party by snorting it up his nose?

3. Are they going to show a scene where the US hands over $20 million?
How dramatic, how exciting, can't wait to see it.

4. I like the part where the fearless hero, Juan McCain, saves the lovely Ingrid.
I think I'll wait for the DVD, however.
