Tased Until Dead: The Epidemic of Taser Crazy Cops
Since 'Taser' use has become widespread more than 290 people have been killed, possibly murdered, by taser crazy cops. In response to this epidemic of violence, Amnesty International released a statement damning the use of "... tasers to subdue non-compliant or disturbed individuals who do not pose a serious danger to themselves or others." That --I daresay --describes most of the incidents.

Various police departments have said 'tasers save lives', an assertion unprovable on its face. Secondly, as tasers have proven popular with rogue cops who like to use them, it may be more accurate to conclude that as gun deaths have gone down, deaths by taser have increased.

Taser use has become an outrage, a threat to the rule of law, an overt violation of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, to say nothing of felony violations of US Codes, and state laws against murder. The epidemic of taser abuse is characteristic of fascist police states run riot when those sworn to uphold the law become nothing more than thugs and/or murderers.

2. Some cops do it because they like it, some do it because they think it is expected, some do it
because they can. I'm speaking here only of cops who have tasered in a non threating incident, as were most of the cases involving the 290 deaths, and probably untold thousands of other instances of non-lethal tasering. And surely hoards are just licking at their chops for the excuse to do so. :grr:

11. I know an average cop. He doesn't carry a taser and he's not a bully.
Now he does project the bravado, but that doesn't make him a bully.

The people who will protect us from the protectors are citizen oversight committees with the power to disarm cops or send them home.

I think the community of Oakland CA has an oversight committee with teeth.

13. One story does not a novel make. I can and have met bully cops due to
the industry I am in.

I did not say all cops were bullies, but there are lots of them. Glad to hear you know of one who isn't. There are still professional police that do a good job, but they still coverup for those who shouldnt be on the force, making them all look bad.

10. It's about power and not wanting their authority questioned...
This is just one of a multitude of vids showing improper use of force in a non-threatening situation.

5. Maybe cops are just getting to lazy.
They don't want to have to physically retrain their target, so they just tase them. Saves time and energy.

6. Possibly, but there are too many stories about taseing people in bed, lying on sofas, in wheelchairs
officers on wellness calls tase 80 year women, and minor children. In these instances, you have to ask, Why?

9. Tasers are being used as a method of forcing compliance
That's basically the whole thing in a nutshell. The fact that people die is simply viewed as collateral damage. If your do not comply with the cops demands, they're going to taser you. I think what is going to have to happen nationwide to curb the abuse of the Taser by street cops, is that use of a Taser is going to have to be considered the same as the use of deadly force, with a the same type of review made if you discharge a firearm.
